Hi Pibbow,
My gut reaction would be to replace the belts as they are under tension all the time whether the car is used or not. Actually, when a car has done as low a mileage as yours I would think the belts are more prone to snap due to the load on them being concentrated on a couple of places for a long period of time. Sorry mate, I don't want to add to your woes just my ramblings/thoughts.

I have had a chance to think about this one and reading other peoples notes and the fact the Meridien first said they have been done then they had not, It sort of points the fact that maybe they have never been done, so I would now get them done, then you know they have been done and not reliant on other peoples honesty.

Don't worry about my woes they are in this instant almost self inflicted mate.

Just spoken to Martin at MP for a price. I have every intension of changing them because I'm as anal as the next man when it comes to service history. Just might not use Meridien.

On a tangent Ronnie where are you? the Highlands are the same size as wales mate....

Matt I have the whole service record printout direct from their system the belts were replaced in 2009 but I will have them done.

my 3200 ac has done probably 1500 miles in last three years getting the belts done is a no brainer. In fact quite reasonable, as it costs the same as on my alfa 155!

When I had mine seviced in November the Belts added about another £150 parts and 3.5 to 4 hrs labour to a normal service price which at the indie I used would have been £360 - and £390 plus the dreaded vat.
