Yet again Max complains about being overtaken. Why the **** can he not just race and stop the whinging.

Oh here we go, it’s Max bashing time again…he was ahead, Russell oversteered into him (check SkyF1 slomo with Chandok), I would be upset too. It cost him the chance to race LeClerc and possibly Perez.

I’m going to side with Max. If I went up to someone after a race and said “you were playing too ragged and you’ve damaged my car” and their response was “I had no grip” I’d call them a ******** too.

I certainly don’t disagree but because Max complains all the time when he gets overtaken it’s got a little bit of cry wolf for him. Max out in front or overtaking the field you don’t hear a word but as soon as he gets overtaken he seems to just whinge, whinge and whinge some more. And one thing he should have done is talk to Russel in private and not call him a dick head on camera. This is why he isn’t making himself himself an appealing driver to lots. Great driver in a great car but comes over a cry baby and the biggest cock nostril in F1. Good to see Perez in front and keeping him honest today. Perez was always going to get past Max as he is quicker so maybe they bought Max in before the safety car so they didn’t battle each other and it ending in tears.

I think they’re encouraged nowadays to complain over the radio so the stewards hear it.
Yes you are probably right. Perez drove a great race and was quick. Deserved to win this one. Hoping that Perez can now challenge for the championship as he is the only one that can and it would be great to see a battle out front.

On one hand I could have done with the first two the other way round and Russel mot putting on softs but as a race result quite happy

Same here - the fastest lap has become a lottery though, which is nearly impossible to predict. It all depends on who is basically a lot slower than the car in front to create a gap big enough for a pitstop. To some extents it has become slowest lap…

So everyone was (again) all over Max for dissing the sprint race. As it turns out, he’s got a point - after the fact they suddenly all had reservations about the new format. Instead of one main race with all the excitement pinned on that, we now have a tedious Saturday with another qualifying thrown in. To have only one free practice before main qualifying is just plain stupid, especially if they are not allowed to make any changes on the car. It’s become a Mickey Mouse show instead of who goes fastest in the best cars of the world on the best tracks in the world. We - well I at least - don’t want another Indy or NASCAR with unpredictable finishes and winners based on a manufactured last lap shootout (I’m not particularly referring to AD here so let’s not go there please, been there done that).

Agree….Why they changed it this year is anyone’s if crazy. Sprint race has no meaning where as at least last year it was basically qualifying for the race. I think that when they realise people are not all off on a Friday and miss the main qualifying they will want to change it back. Stupid idea.

Oh and well done staying top of the league so far this season.

The media hype, silly introduction of sprints, and politics of F1 are tedious to say the least, and when so many race results are influenced by stewards' decisions it all seems a bit pointless.

Imho F1 has truly lost its way when there is so much tinkering around the edges and yet photographers are allowed to block the pit lane during a live race. A halo might protect a driver but it won't do much for idiots, who should know better, loitering on the track.

I always used to like the one lap quali, thought that was super exciting.
It was exciting but could be unfair if the weather was iffy and on some tracks the track gets better as the session progresses which also throws a spanner in the works. I think qualifying is actually quite good, with excitement about the last 5 and the next 5 without “bothering” the faster cars, so you get more excitement down the line as well as a shootout of the 10 best without traffic problems.

The “oldest” sprint race system just created a procession of cars not wanting to compromise their starting positions for the main race. With more points available, the amended one last year compromised that further by just dishing out points for the top 8 “qualifying” places which in fact is counter to creating more excitement, it’s just creating a a larger points gap for the top 4 teams.

The FIA and F1 seem to have lost the plot a bit is all I can say, to the detriment of pure racing. Then shutting up the drivers as well this year. They should be thankful for drivers such as Fernando, Lewis and Max, being controversial and with only eyes on the prize, f*$k the rest and the consequences- that‘s what gets fans invested. Why are we still talking about Lauda, Schumacher and Senna etc. Not because they were polite, nice, cuddly personas - because they were controversial, called a spade a spade, even though they might have got it wrong sometimes.

If they want to continue with a Sprint race they need to find away to make if different. F3 reverse the top10 grid positions for the Sprint which can be entertaining with faster cars further back, also means they can still fit in most of normal practise sessions as there is only 1 quali for both Sprint & Race, so Practise 1 & 2 on a Friday, Quali Sat Morning with a reverse grid Sprint Sat afternoon and then the normal race on Sunday

Gone rogue with my predictions this week in an effort to make up ground. Could all backfire (especially when my son finds out what I've done!), but banking on an unusual race. We'll see...
