This is something that has been depressing for me.....I went into lockdown a healthy looking 82kg man, with jogging 4 times a week and football being played
Not done any exercise really for 18 months, diet all over the place and now at 90kg
I have lost motivation and don’t want to do any exercise......

I can’t carry on like this as I’m short and the big belly is bringing me down so I must change, let’s see

As with all things, you need to make the decision and get on with it. If you can't do it by yourself, get a PT, as I have.

I started with PT back in September last year after being fed up of lacking motivation to exercise, and I haven't missed a session since! Regardless of whether it was snowing and minus temps, doing garage sessions through lockdown, and even in the gym!

I'm off to Portugal in 3 weeks and 3 days, so we're currently pulling out all the stops to be beach body ready. Need a goal in mind to make these things happen!

Get a goal, get a trainer (my one does on-line as well, I can send you a link if you like) and then get yourself back on track.

Start with small fitness aims and gradually increase them as your stamina/strength improves.

As others have said, the hardest thing is restarting and it will hurt and not feel good for a while....eventually youll see and feel the benefits.

I’ve found a fairly easy way recently to get the diet on track by replacing my evening meal with a “man shake” made with two cholesterol weetabix (unfortunately I need em).
Surprisingly filling and I fast thereafter through to around midday.

Come on Dem you can do it. Good for the Covid fight too.

So I went a bit off the boil with my fitness efforts after a fairly decent first month. Work pressures, rubbish weather that prevented me getting out for a run and the lockdown which cut into communal exercise like 5 a side football meant I put on most of what I had lost. Luckily I’ve had a perfect 30 day period to address that. Fasting. First 15/20 days were just about hanging on, but I was able to add in 4x weights sessions per week for the final 2 weeks. My weight is the lowest it’s been for quite some time, body fat is down and conscious that I didn’t want the loss to all be due to water, I kept up my hydration the best I could throughout.856088560985610 *Measurements taken at roughly the same time every day to minimise any dietary or water based variation.
Now the challenge is on to transition back into eating during the daytime, but I’m able to really crack on with the exercise- the weights sessions will be augmented by a 5/6k run and a 5 a side match every week. First run was yesterday and despite an embarrassing faceplant thanks to a slippery path and a dawdling dog, it was my fastest time to 6k in quite a while. First 5 a side will be tonight so it will be interesting to see if my perceived extra stamina and a reduced amount of bulk to carry around translate to a better performance!

Okey doke, never seen them before.......hardly surprising though as I never do the shopping at home. But I’ve eaten “normal” weetabix every weekday morning for years, like decades really.
My “old” doctor told me it was only possible to change cholesterol levels about 10% by changing diet.
Will get tested when I’m back in June to see if mine has lowered at all.

I recommend the daily weight loss podcast.

I've kept quiet on this thread, but have been successful in losing 15.6kg since early March.

I have a friend with the same goals, we've succeeded together having set a goal of the end of this month.

For anyone who's lacking motivation (as I was), try to find an accountability partner with similar goals, have a weekly weigh-in and track your weight, BMI and fat %.

Once you get into a habit, it gets easier. I walk 3 times a day, avoid carbs, but still have a few drinks. If I need to, I fast for a day or two (just water).

Back to wearing belts that I wore at university (31" waist).

It can be done...

Dem, same here although I have lost weight due to an active job but most of the weight loss has come from loosing muscle so it’s a bit of kick in the knackers. I too am struggling for motivation to go to boxing, being 50 and being worn out at the end of the day.

Think I need to get back on the bike and build from there.

What you weight is not important compared to the muscle tone.
