Weighed in today for the first time in over 3 weeks expecting to find some horrendous numbers.
very pleasantly surprised at 13 st 7 lbs which is my upper limit (BMI spec) so a little work to do but very happy. A cruise is looming end of Feb so things like my body may go Pear shaped then. Need to build in some ullage

When I saw this thread, I thought someone had just changed the title of last years one!

The BMI this is just rubbish, it's an 'average', average doesn't take into consideration the various shapes and sizes.
At 26 when I played semi pro football, was fit as a fiddle, played football 5 times a week and went to the gym 4 to 5 times I was classed just a % or 2 below being morbidly obese when I had never been in better shape. (obviously that's a long time ago now- 20 years!)

My plan to lose the excess timber this year is to do more cycling, went out on my bike on the 30th December and did a quick 18.5 miles and was surprised that I wasn't blowing out of my ar5e!
However, I am nowhere near where I was before I was in hospital in September.

I'm doing the Loch Ness Etape in April (a hilly 66 miles) so will need to get my fitness levels up quite a bit, but what it does mean is that cycling training starts, er now, as opposed to April when I would normally start.

As for drinking and eating less, I doubt that will happen, the way at I look at it is if you burn more calories than you consume, you will lose weight.
Just need to do more exercise.

For fit muscular athletic types, BMI is less reliable and the medical profession goes by waist circumference.

Edit - Zagatoes30 got in there first!

Shoe size won't change no matter what...

You might as well just enjoy life!

Not necessarily! When I was 16-23 I was size 13 but was super fit and sporting, over the years since my feet have shrunk to the point I’m now 10 1/2, my hands have shrunk similarly to a more regular size (still XL but at least I can get gloves to fit).

I'm getting arthritis coming up in my left foot. Completely counterintuitively, it appears to be shrinking. So much that I am wearing half length insoles in my right foot, and full length in my left to make up the difference....

You have probably guessed that I put shoe size down just to keep it a little humourous :)
Just realised that predictive text changed belly to bellend.
I do apologise as it wasn't done on purpose and I haven't hurt Ms French.

On the subject of predictive text; my iPhones have always capitalised ANDY. Not as if I would ever need to shout it, also HORNCHURCH and a few other words. I have not found any way of removing these offences from the list?

Such an opportunity for education is this forum!

Perhaps that's why they can't find the sasquatch?

To move on, I’m going out with the local cycling club tomorrow.
Steady group for 30 miles, also booking to see a chiropractor to try and sort the relationship out between my hip & back...
Impressive fat figures Wattie, I used to be below 10 for some time, but now I’m just carrying a medium tyre....

I don't have a tyre as such but more of a slab which is just on my stomach from my waist up to my chest and that's where my excess weight is.
Got a full medical coming up soon so we will see what that highlights.
Possibly I'm doing something wrong with my Gym card.

Haha....no, I think that’s the right way, after years of being a gym bunny, I just can’t motivate myself in them any more..
I think tyre was a bit over doing it, small jelly probably more apt with a cup cake on each hip...
