I drove a friend's 4.2 V8 RS4 manual saloon a few years back and just couldn't get on with it at all. Just couldn't drive the bl00dy thing smooth. It was like I was a new driver on a lesson

Probably down to the manual but I had a TT 3.2 V6 Quattro S-Tronic but only for a very short while as kept falling asleep at the wheel as it was sooooo dull and involving

Springy clutch, four-wheel drive and a very responsive naturally aspirated V8 with thudding torque low down... because of the traction it’s easy to have ‘the fear’ that you might over cook it

You can't buy an S or RS Audi here or you will have it stolen. They are a magnet for the unscrupulous with regular stories of houses being broken into for keys, people followed home and car jacked etc. You'd also get pulled as the cops except them to be driven by gangs etc.

It's odd as there's no problem with M cars or AMG or anything else. Just fast Audi.

BREXIT mate ;)

Heard this few times....Don't get why this would effect car prices....Now the fact that it's more to do with the environment and peoples reluctance to buy big engine cars because of this then that makes sense. These cars are becoming socially unacceptable to lots are we are becoming a minority....Can't see that changing or even prices going up. Life and this world is changing.

My circumstances stances meant Vantage and I'd recommend the same. Unless you want the V12 of course or need the softer GT of the DB9 the Vantage is a better option IMHO. Does both long distance stuff and sports stuff very well.

Want to scratch the V12 itch. Will have to go and try them. Shame

I struggle with this point of view.
SUVs still sell to families and mums in particular who are always going on about their little darling future and the state of the environment.

Yet they [SUVS], use far more fuel than a little hatch back etc. So its more like do as I say, not as I do.

If we want to save the planet, then stop breading.

A friend has had a DB9 from new and loves it. I still think they are fine cars. Maybe a bit heavier and softer than the Vantage. I would drive both for sure and see what you prefer for your purposes.
