Brexit Deal

I think you summarised the position pretty well Geoff.

I’m gonna assume May stays in charge although I feel it may be impossible for her if her deal gets another chance and fails again! If this occurs I cannot see a non Brexiteer getting the job after what’s happened and the new PM goes no deal and we’re out.

Logic says her deal is dead, particularly if there is an opportunity for another proposal.....this will encourage all the Norway plus’s etc
Indeed, This may prevent votes from those who were willing to back it out of desperation as another possibility exists. Brexiteers may also think that no deal is back in play- HOP vote was not legally binding so they’ll oppose her deal after Eu reaction.

I don’t see how this Alternative option however has the time needed to agree a solid universally approved plan...which would mean either a no deal in June crash out or an extension of a year or whatever the Eu comes up with? This means Eu elections etc and is frankly a disaster for the Govt and all they’ve said......it does however keep Brexit in play.....subject to new elections in the Uk etc and a review of it I guess.

It also means at leat another 3000 pages on here!

Re “
It's a brave PM that leaves with no deal, suicide for her as PM I would have thought, but it's braver still to revoke article 50. Which May or May not (no pun intended) mark her out as one of the bravest political (rightly or wrongly) decisions of all time”

I agree, bugger :suicide:
I think she wins more British favour with no deal, than revoking article 50 - this is democracy betrayed and she can blame the Eu for not bending too.

i still say they’ll blink (like they did today as the EU economy is ****** in a no deal even more than we are......they know it. Eu is on verge of recession....This should have been our hand from day 1.

No deal at this point is the simplest clean break option for all.it means we all move on and have to get along and Europe will want to as well.its in everyone’s interest to minimise no deals impact so as to minimise the disruption. Eu will never inforce this though and hope we’ll bottle it to avoid it.

Mays deal or indeed any agreed other version means negotiations are just beginning and will last years too! More drama...exhaustion on all sides.

look at how difficult it’s been thus far.

My Money is on some last minute deal which is tradition in Europe.......better improved version of Mays perhaps, or we walk.

Petition to stop Brexit only has support from Londoners & students
The Sun

DESPERATE EU-lovers have today launched a last ditch bid to stop Brexit WITHOUT another referendum - but they are all from hardcore Remain areas. Over a million die-hard Europe fans have signed a petition to stop Britain leaving and calling on Theresa May to revoke Article 50 completely. With eight days to go before we... Really Is The Sun the font of all knowledge?? ;):) Or am I now a “metropolitan liberal elite”......now then who owns The Sun I wonder??......oh the name is on the tip of my tongue.....Rupert.....whatshisface.....isn’t it funny or is it just a coincidence that the areas with the highest vote leave were also areas that have a high circulation of that knowledgeable and transparent pillar of accuracy, that unreserved exemplar of news reporting that is “the sun” ;)

As an addendum Europe is a class act at moving the goalposts when it needs to...if it keeps the dream alive.
Bail ins, country bond buying by the ECB, banning short selling, LTRO, QE and so on, numerous examples over the years etc.
It’s possible they may exempt us from the Eu elections, oh yes I know the law says we must, but they change the laws if it suits the dream. Do they want a load of Brexiteers in the Eu Parliament stoking the flames of all the other doubters.....
Be prepared for anything, but we need to push them.

I'm going to have to disagree there (you wouldn't expect anything else!).

The votes are from all areas of the country. And are the most are from the most densely populated areas.
But lets be for practically 50% of those who voted voted to stay, so one would expect this.

However, I imagine there are more votes from those areas which the fear of Brexit has already been felt (Swindon & Sunderland for example), to revoke article 50 than there was in June 2016.

I don't really get what it's trying to prove as we know already the majority of people who voted Remain would like another chance at getting the result they want.
On its own correct, but petitions such as this are extremely valuable in providing confidence and justification for those (e.g. in Parliament) promoting this view: hopefully giving it a chance to be seriously considered.
