..... given I work in the financial markets in the city of London which are currently on their knees...l.
Rather apt given that's how they left the country.

Do it mate and let them hear the Larinis!
I might have a chance to drive into London and to my office in Aldgate on 24 December but just dread the reaction from my work colleagues.
So much is my passion for the trident I am going to see one tonight in Doha, Qatar!
You work in the financial markets and you are not loaded??????

Not far from me. I work in Broadgate.
Broadgate is indeed very much next street. I am on Leman Street off Commercial road. It's a nightmare getting in and out of there. Very bad state of traffic. Luckily as a cyclist I am not affected.
Which pub was it Dave....I will have to go lol
The pub is the nearest one to me that sells reasonable ale (John Smiths)
I know how to live!!!!

Other than that it is a dump and has nothing to recommend it, the food is typical pub fair - poor
The toilets are a disgrace, I have never seen the manager
I have complained many times to the owner (Spirit pubs) via emails and surveys and nothing is done so I have stopped
It is called the Southern Cross and is in an area called Marton.
I would not recommend it as a potential meeting place for this forum!
As I say I can walk there in 20 minutes and have a few and stagger home in reasonable time for late night TV and a corned beef slice

Not if your drinking that stuff - its awful, what northerners think southerners call real ale.

Are we sure this wasn't meant to be *Sam* Smiths. I've never heard John Smiths described as 'reasonable'
