I don't know if it's worth me forwarding the other submitted VOSA reports to the same guy now I have his email address??

Mark
I would expect the systems there to show all the reports but would do no harm to check with him by email he has the other reports and they are being considered alongside the info you submitted given their relationship. Interestingly, I've not had any reply or confirmation from them yet re the report I put in yesterday?

Thank you Mark for the time and effort taken.

Lest set the stop watch to see how long it takes Maserati to address this.

However I think I will use a calendar.

Greg,

It'll take a couple days.. Then a manager will let you know they've received it and whether they've assigned it to an engineer, or not. That's what happened in my case anyway. Then about a week later the engineer emailed me.

May be a silly question, but can i assess if the lowers are cracked without a ramp? I.e crawling under the car...

Would be too tight squeeze for me. If you can get the front wheels up on blocks securely then maybe.........but still better thee than me!

I've just got back from my friends place where I had access to a ramp and here's what I've seen on both sides -

What a huge relief!!!
Both cleaned up very easily and I think they may have been replaced within the last couple of years. One and then the other by the looks of it.
I'm going to trawl through the paperwork to see if there's any trace of that happening.

I'm a very happy chappy :)

I am working today but have a local garage over the road of which I know the owner. I am going to take mine to work next Saturday (as long as it isn't raining!) and get it up on his ramps so we can inspect it together. Will post the results and any notes/pictures etc. of what we find. Mine is a 2007 4200 with only 11,700 miles so will be interesting to see if later cars ever had the revised parts fitted to them at any point.

What is the latest/earliest car MY/year or lowest mileage we have recorded so far that has had evidences of cracks/issues? Would be good to see if there is a time/mileage that may be more common or latest/earliest/lowest/highest miles to see if all cars may be affected or just batches. Maybe there is just a batch of poorly manufacturer parts that affect only certain cars.

Good news. I would say those are fairly new and have been recently replaced as the rubber on the exposed end of the fan blocks degrades very quickly.

Someone commented earlier in this post that Marios had found a similar problem on a GT but most of the reports seem to the earlier the car coupled with the older the part the more likely to see it so will be interesting to how yours being a youngster and low miler will pan out?

Next Saturday will reveal all I guess. Shame it was blo*dy raining today as I would have found out this morning. Has anyone reported issues on any GS's?

I've just checked my front arms. Easy to do at home if you have a trolley jack. Just jack the car as high as you can with the wheel still on then place wooden blocks under the wheel and lower the car back down. This compresses the suspension enough to be able to see the offending area of the front mounting quite easily. Give them a good clean and it's easy to see whether there are cracks. You can't see the rear mounting this way but all the reported problems so far have been with the front.
The good news is mine were both fine. I've got a 2005 GS with 60k miles and the arms are original, stamped 2004, so not the oldest of cars but quite high miles compared to some on here who have had problems.

Age is not the issue...same with the miles...this thread shows 2006 cars with less than 40k having the issue.

I guess it is down to the roads the cars have been on

Has there been any cars yet with the revised one piece cast on them from new of the production line? Or does it look like all are the 2 piece cast? Do we have any idea when the revised/improved one piece cast came to be known?

Managed to get time to check mine this morning and glad I did. Nearside looks fine. Offside is clearly cracked and seems to have been like this for some time.

Nearside:

OffsideP1030557.jpgP1030544.jpgP1030555.jpg

Both are original parts. Car is an 02 4200 Cambiocorsa with 42K

I'm with you Greg, that looks suspiciously like a shadow to me although the rubbers have seen better days.
