If you did want to dispense with the big square tin.........

Would it be possible to weld extensions to the existing hangers, from the inside of the box to a section of new tube?
Either that or mark up current end points (make a jig from big cardboard box) to note where the rubbers woul;d be. Cut off existing hangers making a hole in the boxes. Now make new ones from SS bar, feeding them into your jig, through holes in the boxes. Weld new SS bar to the pipes, hack off the big tins and hey presto!

Exactly why I will be doing it. They will still look standard, and I can't be bothered to mess about with new hangars. Also, it will only cost about £50 to do, and it's a bit of fun to boot. ;p

Mav , ive got the tops off of my box , but am struggling to get a good cut with a grinder to get the internals out . how did you get the baffle plate and pipes out ? do i need a risipricating saw?

Yes mate I cut the two outlet pipes with one than used a old wood chisel and hammer to break out the inlet perforated pipe . Than grab hold of the innards and with a bit of tugging ripped the lot out . To be fair this part took the longest .

Better than that , iv drawn it up so people can make their own . Mind you mine is a bit more basic than yours , but should give similar results< and can be made with not alot of specialist tools . ill take some pics aswell though . and a video of before and after ;P

Always good to know , but we already have two here already . So you went for round tube instead of square ?
