Will do Greg, the plan is to have about 12 pairs available to the forum to complement Craig's tie rods. The whole OEM design is really poor and most definitely not designed to be maintained or adjusted. Having these inner sockets will give people the confidence to tackle the job knowing they are only trying to undo one coarse thread with a fighting chance :) by cutting the old tie rod through and freeing it.

My rods are seized solid, even dropping the car onto the thing didn't work, one is looking a bit mangled. I found one of the ball joints is on its way out also so I may just replace both arms and fit the new tie rods to those. Utter PITA!!

Ok so I have a price and lead time now for the rear tie rod sockets. To confirm it is the socket part threaded internally (fine) and externally (coarse) that screws onto the tie rod inner end (top part in photo) and winds into the alloy rear lower wishbone.

This picture shows the damaged one taken off my vehicle. I have used this as a model and have commissioned 20 + to be made and will collect them last week of June or sooner. I will then have them cleaned and plated in BZP. I will supply them with a new half nut (clamp/clench/locking nut). If you have a set of Craig's wonderful tie rods and are booking your car in for having them fitted it will make the job a whole lot easier to have these and may save the wishbone from damage and stress let alone the fitter! Mostly because you will not need to recover the old ones of the old tie rod and can simply cut the old tie rod in half or less and actually remove it with the socket with a ring spanner, socket or impact gun instead of an ill-fitting open ended spanner!

I will supply them at cost and priced individually at £38.00 plus postage and packaging (probably £6.00 to UK), I'm sure everyone will buy them as pairs though. I'm saying they will be ready to ship 6th July or sooner.

Please add yourself to the list with numbers:

1. Highlander 2 or 4?

Tie Rod Sockets

Well here they are in all their glory:

Finished in BZP in a high grade mild steel to the correct dimensions throughout. One is shown hand fitted to one of Craig's lovely tie rods waiting to go on my car....

I will supply them at cost and priced individually at £38.00 plus postage and packaging (estimated at £6.00 to UK for single or pair), I'm sure everyone will buy them as pairs though.

No problem Craig, just let me know, I have 9 pairs left from this batch, not already promised. I've just asked Catman if he's headed your way any time soon!

Count me in please. I have Craig's tie rods ready to go on my car at some point, so these will finish the job off nicely.

Greg, I hope yours are winging their way back to you, I sadly missed your couriers in Saturday as I was in the car on track when they dropped the money off and when they collected them later!

A few more people got to see them anyway so hopefully anyone changing tie rods will see the merit in getting them, it just make the job so much easier.

I hope to have time to edit a video next week perhaps!

Hi Craig and Newton, I'm having Fd springs fitted soon and will need to get ready the supplies to fix other matters we find.
The left rear has always felt loose so tie rod could be the answer. Craig having read all 16 pages of this thread I can't see an official hand over date to FD. Can I order from you rods and rubber bits?
Newton do you still have stock?
