Regarding the tie rod being tight, having watched Craig's excellent video, I used a jack on the end of the spanner with the car on axle stands. It all works the same way but as I was on stands already it mean't a bit less messing around. Once they moved they were incredibly tight right to the end of the thread so be ready for a workout!

ROFL you and I would get along really well in real life. I like being around people who would do something completely different to get the same results. It's like the Italian bread to remove the Spigot bearing. Sure, you can use an actual Spigot bearing puller but why when you can work, entertain yourself, and have eat bread all at the same time.

I think you are definitely on to something here with the jack instead. Just make sure the wrench catches properly on the jack plate so the wrench doesn't let go and slide off. Zep's method would definitely make you feel more comfortable. I appreciate the input Zep.

. I mean it, without your video I wouldn't have had the idea...!

Others might not have such a hard time undoing them, from the amount of thread lock on mine I suspect they had just had a very large delivery from Loctite....

I just think the techs were like, "hey lets make sure this car needs to be hit with a dump truck to get these loose". Everyone I've done has been the same way I think.

I have just commissioned a number of sets of inner end sockets and half nuts, which will be about four weeks to get made and BZP coated. They are going to be fully compatable with OEM and Craig's wonderful tie rods. I'll make them available on the forum at cost plus postage and packaging to wherever in the world they are needed.

This will mean that if like Benny and myself your tie rod is seized solid in the inner socket you can take a cutter to the rod and just worry about removing the socket without risking damaging the wishbone and risking the car falling from the jack from multiple attempts to free it. Believe me the heat and force required to free mine resulted in it being butchered and not something I want to put back on the car in that condition.

I'll have a price and confirmation of lead time soon.
