I bow before the superior level of pedantry...

What happened for the 1st time in each year is not the same thing each year, but all of the things that happened are connected and part of a common theme.

That theme is not something to do with women, or aviation...

It's blooming hard work being QM!

Funny. But wrong.

This is a series of years when something significant, which is car related and relevant to this forum, happened for the first time. What happened is not the same thing each year, but all of the events are connected to a common theme. I've also disclosed the country where the thing happened.

The final clue, which may give it away, is that one of the years is referring to a Maserati related 1st...

However, one of the dates (or years) refers to a Maserati related event

Nope - not linked to F1 World Champs.

This is about the refinement and evolution of something car related and relevant to this forum. If no one gets warm by this evening I will tell you who was responsible for the thing that happened for the 1st time in each year.

Something along the line of the QP original design idea to years for the various QP revised models ?

Ok - clearly need to turbocharge this as we don't seem to be getting anywhere.

In each of the years listed below, something happened for the 1st time ever. That something wasn't the same thing in each year, but all of the 1st's are connected by a common theme. The theme is car related and relevant to this forum, and happened in the countries listed. I've also now included who was responsible for the event, and the one in 1981 is something Maserati did.

1905 - Germany, engineer called Dr Büchi
1923 - Germany, Danzig and Preussen (passenger liners)
1938 - Switzerland, Swiss Machine Works Saurer
1962 - America, General Motors / Chevrolet
1974 - Germany, Porsche
1978 - Germany, Mercedes
1981 - Italy, Maserati

So, what did Maserati do in 1981 that was a world 1st?
