Yes - correct. Turbocharger is the theme...

1905 - Germany, engineer called Dr Büchi - First patent for a turbocharger granted
1923 - Germany, Danzig and Preussen (passenger liners) - first use of a turbocharged engine, in ships
1938 - Switzerland, Swiss Machine Works Saurer - first turbocharged engine in a truck
1962 - America, General Motors / Chevrolet - first turbo in a car (Oldsmobile Jetfire / Chevrolet Corvair)
1974 - Germany, Porsche - first 911 turbo
1978 - Germany, Mercedes - first turbo diesel (300SD)
1981 - Italy, Maserati - first production car with a twin turbo (Maserati Biturbo)

Good question! Didn't have a clue based in dates - so won't say, to avoid embarrassment, what my guesses would've been :eek:

I think first one is Opel, but then I thought many of the other dates were also Opel related

The first one is Opel yes. I did think about putting the original Peugeot date in as they started as a bicycle company in 1810.
