New Kevlar Clutch

Morning guys,

Well unbelievably my mechanic is a Porsche master tech who is in all fairness awesome and reliable. Sadly we've just found out that Porsche Cardiff lost the contract to maintain the ferrari's so they have taken back the diagnostics leaving me stranded

Sadly we don't have a Leo or any diagnostics that actually reads the Maserati gearbox even my mate who's a Ferrari specialist don't have one as he refuses to work on the F1 box (old school mechanic 308, 328, F40's etc) he did say that with the 360's you could disconnect the battery and wait a few hours then once reconnected the gearbox ecu relearns and does the same as the Leo within that link. Sadly that's just a guess for my mas.

So if nothing happens today then I'll be trailering her from cardiff to London and happily letting Voicey look at her (as long as that's ok with him )

But I'm not disheartened as unless you get the proper software first of all this was inevitable

Voicey, have you any experience of Kevlar clutches fitted to the robotised manual Ferrari 360?

I haven't but a good friend has tried to fit two. The first time he couldn't get the clutch to grab the flywheel properly so he gave up and put an OEM clutch in. The second time (different manufacturer) it started out OK but burnt the flywheel up shortly afterwards.

Having said this, these were clutches resurfaced in the US. In this instance we have a clutch and flywheel from Mad Dog. They don't actually do the work themselves (they are re-sellers) but I know the people who did make this clutch and they are very good. I'm hopeful it could work out....

I'm sorry but that is utter **** and will lead to a real risk of damaging the clutch and flywheel. The only way to set these (Ferrari or Maserati) up is to use a diagnostic tool that can get into the TCU.

I'd be happy to take a look for you - drop me a PM. Instead of getting it trailered to me it could be cheaper to pay my expenses to come out to you and negates the risk of trailering the other way if the clutch cannot be set up (see post above).

Yes what did he do indeed? Voicey is dead on, there isn't a battery reset and reprogram. The KISS point doesn't write itself, neither does the new clutch parameters so he's either running the car with the old clutch parameters or hopefully he found a scan tool or reactivated the software on his. This is one of those times I think I would pay Voicey personally to take a ride out and help because I don't want to see what's going to happen. Paul brother listen, please, the F1 systems in these cars aren't the same as normal gear boxes in any other car. Please don't run the car without having Voicey look at it. It's not worth it. Your friend can be a great mechanic, no one is saying he isn't but he obviously doesn't specialize in these F1 Maseratis or Ferraris or he would know you shouldn't run any F1 car without properly setting up the clutch.

There's not a hotter trending thread in the Maserati world than this one! I have my phone on instant notification...... Can one of you guys get a video of the car running and driving when it's done and post it? I really want to see it when they are done.

Its working as per factory.... Obviously I'm running the clutch in properly so 300 miles until full throttle but it's honestly very nice
