New Kevlar Clutch

I was a bit shocked by the opening comment on this thread where it is stated the flywheel was lightened. This is a very bad thing unless you can confirm the flywheel is forged rather than made of cast iron. Cast iron flywhells are brittle and if machined tend to literally shatter as they are stressed by the accelerative forces of the engine and decellerative forces of the clutch.

There are incredibly high forces at play when these let go, all just a few inches from your feet.

Not advised.

Make sure your flywheel is forged from EN40 or similar before taking anything off it. A forged fywheel will normally be machined on every surface.

Sounds like good advice, but will the OP please update us on this? We are waiting with great interest!

Sorry guys been busy lately... My car has been into maserati Cardiff and the kiss point was slightly adjusted and now not so snappy/juddery off the mark... I was wrong when I said it was making a noise at 4krpm it was the exhaust making all sorts of noises as it was also new and I didn't know it's sounds, but glad as it made me stay slow during the running in period. Feels totally normal now. I did get the ecu mapped and only really feel the difference top end and mid range torque. Worth £250 not worth more as not noticeable enough. On his rollers the car was 406bhp stock (fully exhaust system remember) now 435bhp.
mpg has gone from 15.5mpg to 15.7mpg (no difference really)

Exhaust now that's a different story.... Sounds AMAZING totally sets the car off.
Still cosmetically modifying dropping it 25mm and got my carbon bits there to fit

Really pleased that clutch seems to working out, Paul. Very good news. Sounds like you're getting on well with your car. Also good news. Keep sending pictures as your transformation continues, will you?

This does seem interesting.

Not sure about 'less snappy / juddery' Would like to see it, really

Catman - on a hill start the clutch was either in or out, virtually zero bite point - and on a flat it was intermittent, sometimes normal sometimes snappy (nothing major to the point you'd b embarrassed if people was watching) - now smooth throughout.

Woolies is pretty good, but but not permanent in my experience. Of course, that may be simply my application.

Ah lovely... Thank you!

De nada

My bolster has lasted about a year before beginning to show the earliest signs of wear. I'd not be surprised if proper air brushing and more coats would extend that.

It's not *quite* the same black as the leather, though.

My splitter just arrived so looking forward to making it fit.
For anyone who wants one.... £40 on eBay. It's the Seat Cupra R front splitter. I've had one on all my Audi's and the shape matched so why not

Once fitted will post better pics
