There was a good reason for that - I was doing the "nature trail" circuit. And very lovely it was, too.

Brunty is pretty easy, can't do more than one "lap" at a time so a little less stress on car and driver. Brakes can get pretty hot though if you don't use them right (i.e. if you brake too gently - sounds odd but pads are in contact with discs for longer which leads to hot brakes and fluid). Doesn't mean you have to leave the braking until the last minute though!

It's not heavy on tyres, even if you put some drifting in.

Stay out of the way of the silly fast cars on the straight unless you're called MAF. The only "dodgy" bit there is the end of the straight, cars and drivers of differing speeds and ability trying to make the last corner can make it interesting. But if you keep your wits about you its really no big deal. Hopefully they'll reintroduce the cone chicane they had there a couple of years ago, it slowed everyone down and was a bit easier.

Only other thing is stones. Last year the first hour or so was bad for stones, but looks like they're going to sweep it more this year. It is easy though - if theres a lot of noise under the car on the slow sighting lap at the start of the day don't go out for an hour or two and let everyone else clean up the track for you!

My only other tip is SOMEONE TAKE A CHILD BOOSTER SEAT!!

Not really a track day. Lots of fun, if quite hard work if you're not used to tracks (I'm very not) and I spent quite a long time worrying if I was going to break something horribly expensive :)

Still coming back for more :D

Easier said than done when Jabba the Hut is behind the wheel of a 700bhp GTR and decides to slide across in front when you're braking at 150+ and there's a TVR 15 feet to your right!! Twitchy hole ensued, followed by a good dose of remonstrating with said "fat c*** in a Datsun". My words, I have a mixture of pleasure and shame about them.

going to be a stupid Q I know, but who do people use for track day insurance for these kind of days when you might be carrying passengers?

It's not a track day (did we mention that), so something of a grey area. Some have been told that no insurance is required, others the absolute opposite.

think I'll check out some day insurance..........might be a grey area just now but willing to bet next year's renewal that if something happens most insurance companies will view it as not covered:unsure:

Bit of a nature ramble?

C

Exactly. By the end of it I was able to remove a number of interesting and rare breeds from my front grill. Unlike MAF, who d@mn-near had to remove a fat **** and his Datsun from his front grill.
