Awareness is the key. I picked a line down the straight, a braking point and a turning point and tried to stick to them so I was always approaching the corner the same way, but being aware and flexible was vital.

Given the fact there were no coming-togethers kind of proves that everyone was being aware and flexible, though some more than others it must be said. Apart from the disparity of speed regarding the GTRs I thought the vast majority were being sensible and courteous. Having said that there are improvements that could be made but, personally, I don't think it requires a root and branch review, more fine tuning.

I know it comes across as trifling Andy, and chances are 9 times out of 10 all with be fine, but on that tenth time I don't mind pranging my car, I don't mind pranging myself, but I couldn't live with pranging some stranger's 9 year old daughter after they have been entrusted to my safety on not much more than a hand-shake.

Not trifling Miles...It was a bit hairaising mate at times........I am taking a closer interesting in all things track this year...I want everone to have fun but safe fun for you, your cars and the passengers...

great time last year, took 2 little boys around the track who couldn't see over the dash, their hands in the air as we took off - as we finished... more more more.... and not forgetting Mark and his GTR friends was one of the highlights.. not a word as he match passed us all...up to the GTR guy and had a nice little chat...

would love to be in this again but maybe too worried what could happen this time... but will come alone as a guest

A pair of 'BRAKE' point boards set up would help some I'm sure, the difficulty is the straight is just so wide you can easily have 4 or 5 abreast jostling for space and entering from all sorts of angles and speeds.
Perhaps something along the lines of a point on the straight where no further overtaking can take place. Clearly marked and with a marshall on the straight to keep check - any offenders to be removed from the circuit for the rest of the day. That would make the entry into the last bend a single file affair and therefore much safer.

Given the width, not sure that overtaking could be prevented.

I still love that photo. What did your passenger say?
C

I think.

He's on here. He may remember. I may have a video.

Personally I think it was a pretty slick move.

What's with the brake lights Princess? A bit of right hand down, a boot full of gas and bring it back on without slowing down. Now that would have got you some kudos! :)

It had worked so well on the other laps. On this, the lap following my absolute last lap of the day, my brain was all fried and just couldn't be buggered to play anymore.

Stoopid brain. I knew at the time that the corner was perfectly well in reach, I just chickened out at the prospect of pirouetting while all the cars I'd just over-taken had to navigate my erratic path of twirly doom.

I remember the poor little cone, getting bigger as we rapidly approached it, before it met its crumpled demise. All I could think was **** we are going to hit something, and what will it damage?

I do remember you saying it may be on video on that camera that took some fitting in the morning.

Adrian has just had his C63 remapped and de-limited & has had a x-pipe fitted. A claimed 540bhp now. I've just driven it quite spiritedly and it is an absolute beast! The gear changes are so instant and smooth, the torque is unbelievable. The way it got to 130mph (on a private track) is very impressive. The noise is much better as well, all exhaust rather than engine with more snarl and bark. We both came back with a huge grin after I showed him one of my favourite driving roads nearby - he can't wait to use it in anger at Brunty later this year!!

Yeah, sorry about that. Not one of my finest corners. Luckily the cone came out worst and I learned that if in doubt go for it anyway. :conf1:
