When our son was born, Ms. CB learned to drive (in her 30's before you all start on the cradle-snatching) and bought a family car. She told me I should buy a sports car for myself as I'd always wanted one. Was looking at 2yo Honda S2000's as they are reliable and fun, but realised I could get a 10yo Spyder for the same money...passing that opportunity by seemed like a waste of my prodigious recklessness...

Feel in love with Maserati in the early 80's...Yes the Bi Turbo era...Not many did.....Just sort of grew from there.....In the 90's I would sold my Gran for a Ghibli Cup.......then realised my dream in 2007 when I bought a 3200...Part exchanged my Lotus Exige for it..

Been into Alfas for years but always hankered after a Maserati, a Shamal was on my wish list but didn't have the budget. Started looking at 3200s as I love the boomerangs but got nervous by the potential issues. Decided that if I wasn't brave enough for a 3200 I would get a 4200 but when I looked I thought the big rear lights spoiled the rear.

Solution a 4200 Spyder, the rear lights seem to work better. Planned to buy spring 2014 but found an old for sale ad on here for the right colour combo. The rest is history and it is currently my everyday drive and I am loving it :)

I remember seeing a 3200 in Kew and thinking it was probably the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

It was all down hill from there....

Ownership is not really the problem. Fuel, insurance and repairs may be :)

I recall when I first started driving, I only wanted Alfas. Well I managed it, but was on my wife's insurance until I was 25.

I always wanted a 3200 - the boomerang lights and twin turbo set up is what did it for me and so I pulled the trigger on one just before my 20th birthday.

Simples for me the wife left and bought the first 4200 cambio corsa I looked at. Still have it as my daily driver.

Numerous Alfas, then a Merak, ( was a bit of a shed,) got me hooked on Maserati. Wanted something I could use quite a lot, so that sort of ruled out the 60s and 70s cars, 80s best forgotten, so the 3200 AC it was.

I have a 360 Modena F1 which I get back on Thursday after she has just had a bit of TLC with Carrs down in Exeter and getting married for the second time on Friday so happy days.

Reliable then phil?
My 4200 is well known because she is high mileage and not mint but scrubs up well. Had her remapped and dynoed at 97,000 and got 458.8 bhp and she is now nearly on 110,000. Ferrari ownership has cost me nearly as much as what I paid for my Maserati and yes I enjoy every mile. Phil.
