We do have some fun, but when all's said and done, it's still work. Got to do something to settle those Emblem bills!

Ewan. I holiday in that area at the same time each year. Always a little frustrating to see the harbour screened off and little chance to see the boats.

I may drop you a line next year to see if you can let me in even if I have to carry your stock!

I believe that you are pushing the dates far close to the snowing time. I think that the very late of August-first two weeks of September is the right time for this. It's a pity to do the passes and have the fear of ice.

Having lobbed the grenade of a different week in the first place, for which I apologise, is there a consensus/decision on dates? I really want to go on the trip and if it is 9 September then I need to try to get the board meeting moved and the sooner I start the easier it will be.

Cheers.

So the later dates are concerning people regarding weather and potential snow, 9th September for an early off on the 10th returning on the 18th doesn't suit a number of members... So what are we to do?

Seriously guys, the later dates are just one week later than our 2014 epic trip and although there was a couple of white tops nothing bothered us on that one, I cannot see it bein an issue given this and last years appalling snow in the depths of the supposed ski season!

Lets stick with the 23rd Sept - 2nd Oct when the majority of people can do.

Hmmm.... Can I stick my oar in? You might not be able to see it being an issue, but it is genuinely just a gamble; it happened to pay off in 2014, but that was just luck. On the same day you guys drove from Bormio to Modena in good weather, Zep, Blu, Catman and I crawled over a pass just 50 or so miles west in appalling conditions. Realistically, you should expect there to be a high probability of bad weather on the mountain passes at that time of year - it might not be snow, but ice, low cloud and rain are very likely. I wouldn't also rely on the perceived snowfall in the depths of the ski seasons this year and last being anything to base your plans on either! This time last week it was raining, warm, and washing away what snow there was. In the last couple of days, nearly 2m of snow has fallen!

Sadly not able to come, but I echo the thoughts above. For me returning from Italy on the 21st over the passess, oneside in sun the other snow, thick fog and 10mph.

I hope you all have a clear and dry sunny trip but winter comes far earlier in the mountains.

Appreciate the issues and clearly you guys are more experienced on what the weather is likely to be. Personally I'd like to go when we have the best chance of good driving and can go on 9th; I just need to know so I can sort some meetings.

Have we actually decided on what this trip will be and where?

Im in for whatever. No all the best roads are on the mountain passes, personally i prefer fast and sweeping over slow and tight- oooh eerrr mrs.

I've got the video somewhere. It's amazing how much space 'grey' takes up....

as some of you know, im interested in this but with LM and a summer holiday to go to in Cyprus around July that leaves me with June July and September (if I go on this) spent abroad...really must go self employed this year
any idea of costs?

Thanks for the input guys; perhaps we should set up a facebook chat or something over the weekend so everyone can put their points across quickly and easily?

Dem, budget for the Centenary varied tremendously from a passenger place probably about £1,500 to a solo budget run like me about £2,500 to some of the more exotic runs with bar bills and breakage allowances totalling £XX,000 by the time the cars were recovered and repaired!

I would think this will be slightly cheaper but not a lot less.

Early ideas are to devise a much quicker run down to Bormio SO, Italy than the previous one (probably one stop only), possibly via Germany (MAF route) and then basing ourselves there for a few days and then venturing south for those that want to visit the Adriatic or Mediterranean coasts.

All open to debate so who is up for a chat over the weekend (Saturday 4-6pm) and what media suits everyone?

Would be a shame Dem, I'm just trying to be realistic and at least have the knowledge of the previous trip to call upon.
