Would be a shame Dem, I'm just trying to be realistic and at least have the knowledge of the previous trip to call upon.

think your figures are very close, its was about £2k for me solo - I am up for this weekend, even if just to listen to comments - I will follow whatever but only request is a time we can have a high chance of good weather

Dem - maybe you could join up with someone and split bills, should be able to get that below £1k - maybe someone with GT-MC is going :)

Im away this weekend im afraid.

But id be happy with a quick blast down to Italy, MAF and i did Modena to Epernay in one no probs.

My pennyworth options

1) If Italy is the vote then the Lakes and North East Italy Trento / Merano / Cortina, etc with a trip to the Opera at Verona, less so in (pull me over for no fricking reason) Switzerland.

2) Italian Job trip to France Swiss border, Geneva , Annecy and Borg-Saint-Maurice (where some of it was filmed) and Aosta-Martigny road where the rest was filmed.

3) i know off the wall but i fancy a trip to North Spain - 24 hours on a ferry but straight into quiet fast roads and more sun.

But as long as i get somewhere i don't really car that much. More than willing to help out as required.

Cheers Frank, Sage advise as ever.

So is Facebook chat a reasonable option? People can drop in and out of the chat and scroll back to catch up if you go out or anything.

I'm on there as myself (Newton Ford) ping a friend request and I'll try and set up a chat around 5pm tomorrow.

I can't do 5pm - I'll be leaving a chilly St James' Park having watched us lose again. However, at the moment I'm pretty date free in September and would prefer to do Italy. I'll ping a friend request anyway and if I can join, I will.

I feel next Ace cafe meet in 3 weeks time is the place for this to be discussed.

Does everyone agree?

Have you got any other forum members on your account, maybe they may be on the chat, I've got about 20 invited into the chat so far although some may be watching the wendyball or something, it is early yet.

Aim to kick off after 5 I think.

Well thanks all those that joined in the facebook chat; lots of great banter as usual but I don't think it advanced the project in the slightest, I don't think we will bother trying that again.

So if you can all take a moment to pop your wishes and desires of a Euro road trip for September either on here or to me on a PM I will collate them and get working on the outcome before it is too late.

Simply it will be a 'with partners' trip, aiming to provide comfort, relaxation and culture... Plus some great driving naturally!

I need:

Preferred (or only possible) dates; either 9th - 18th or 23rd - 2nd (Oct)

Numbers

Preferred primary locations;

a) Calais, Germany (Porsche museum) Bormio (main base), day trips etc, Mt Blanc return.

b) Calais, West France road trip, keep moving Bay of Biscay, Gorges and the Lot etc.

c) Portsmouth to Bilbao (two epic sessions on the boats for 24 hrs), laxed Spanish roads, Pyrenees up to Andorra and to the Med coast to dip our toes.

d) Portsmouth to Bilbao (two epic sessions on the boats for 24 hrs), laxed Spanish roads, and a few days in Portugal maybe even a Tour of force in Gibraltar?

Willingness to assist in the planning and management?

Would be happy with option 1 or 2 early September.

9th Sept for me and the War Department. Anywhere, but not done Spain and I've heard the roads are awesome.

I'd like to do option 1 - I've always fancied the Porsche museum and want to see if I can organise a factory trip, Modena etc if we are based reasonably close by. That probably means the early dates which are fine. The later dates might be an issue (contrary to what I said earlier) since my lad is likely to be off to Uni this year and it might be the weekend of the proposed return.

Happy to do alternatives if that's the consensus but Portsmouth is 5-6 hours driving for me so is a major PITA. If Calais is the jumping off point, then I may well do Hull - Zeebrugge overnight on the Friday and meet everyone somewhere early Saturday.

Can't do either of those dates. Have the small matter of my wedding and honeymoon.

One thing I would say though, is avoid Potugal, the roads are atrocious!
The roads in Northern Spain are great though.

Option 1 for me and easy on dates, will this be an all Maserati trip, or am I allowed to bring my Cayenne GTS, as this is more likely to get there and back under its own steam
