We need a whole chunk of money back from the EU to sort our roads out, never mind the rest getting all the cash, I don't want to pay for their roads fixing up when ours are so bad..!!

As far as I understand it Robert, IF we had spent the money on the roads, then they wouldn't be asking for the 2 billion.

Im with Petronic

I have been asked to joining a neighbour in his Aston and a few others going to North Spain this year, its a 24 hr ferry so relaxed and easy travel.. maybe with a beer or 2, Then glorious empty, well kept, smooth roads with no targeted mobile cameras. They do it 3 times a year.

And its dry and warm (generally), the mountain roads are not as good as Switzerland but better for our cars really.

It would be my vote every day. Ill even do a few itineries if anyone is interested.

As for highlands my folks live in Mallaig and I get to drive the roads a few times a year, its just a bloody boring trek to get there and as of last month the roads are in a terrible state, especially the A82.

My vote is Scottish Highland Cruise or Ireland

Those are good calls.

I know Southern Ireland very well, I'm over there a lot as my family is there. I spend a lot of time around Connemara and County Clare, both of which have some fun roads. But watch out for the sheep!

I did Northern Spain last year on a Cigar & Rioja Run, it was good fun, some nice roads and new ones being built..!! You can't beat nice warm sunny weather and a Maserati in full song, it's artistic..!!

We are going back to Chateau D'Etoges early spring to get some more champers, just for a long weekend and to break up the boredom before LeMans

Should I put my order in Frank..??
Biaritz, I really like it there, full of Masers would be epic with the noise around those little streets..!!

I'm tempted by the Biaritz event. Not so keen on the Scotland/Ireland suggestions, as Shamals are not famed for their wet weather prowess!

...........and it is sooo dry in dorset ewan lol
agree though, getting to either the highlands or ireland is a major trek for most maser owners on here I would guess.

Which is why I don't really drive it here either! To me, my Shamal is more of a possession than a car. But it does come out on sunny days occasionally, and a trip to Biarritz could fit that criteria.

Those are good calls.

I know Southern Ireland very well, I'm over there a lot as my family is there. I spend a lot of time around Connemara and County Clare, both of which have some fun roads. But watch out for the sheep!

They do have some fun roads there - I know them well, I have a house in North Clare and was back for Christmas. I've never taken the GTS over though. Prefer something like a 4x4 where I can see over the walls. It's not so much the sheep (or even the badgers) that would worry me it is the other road users.

Without stereotyping, the standard of driving there is atrocious - name me one other country where you can drive solo to your driving test, fail, and drive home solo after which you can carry on driving solo forever. There is little incentive to learn proper skills and it shows. Add to that the number of tractors on the wrong side of the road, oblivious; the boys that take their 'racers' into Galway once a month, coming home full of cheap whisky and whatever they could stick up their noses on a night out, showing off to the girls on the way home round country lanes.

There is a good reason why Ireland has one of the highest road (and teenage) mortality rates which have just gone up again for the umpteenth year - it is frankly carnage.

Okay, sorry to harp on (no pun intended) but I want to see the SM group back from their fun in one piece.

On the upside, if you take the overnight ferry from Holyhead and hit the new motorway to the West at 3am on a Sunday morning you won't see another car, on perfect two lane Tarmac, for two hours - then you can test that top speed!!!

One day!
