Stirling car club is having an drive to Glenisla this Sunday (6th aug) so it will be good to get the car out. Hood down? Or am I being a bit ambitious!

It reminds me there used to be a club called 'The Top down Club' if you joined you had to keep your hood down no matter the weather.

Needless to say the membership did not last long, most succumbed to hypothermia, lol

I was considering new tyres and in reading some posts, one by Matt (Conaero) In which he recommended Falken Tyres.

So who am I a mere novice to doubt the Methuselah of Maserati Knowledge on this!

So without further ado had a look around for prices.

And it comes as no surprise at the differences.

I eventually settled on 4X Y XL Falken Azenis FK520 Performance Road Car Tyre from Demon Tweeks at a cost of £473 delivered.

This of course does not include fitting, But as I am shortly to get my Alloys refurbished I will get the Alloy refurbish firm to put the new tyres on, and they also balance them.

Hi joered - I just bought the car on my profile picture - same colours, early 2003 car. First Maserati for me although I'm a serial De Tomaso owner, so well used to pain and a depleted wallet. Also only just under 25k miles on it. It had been off the road for six years, so McGrath have recommissioned it for me. I've also had an issue with the handbrake and I'm now waiting for this to be fixed with new parts etc. Sticky button issues too and I'm looking into resolving this. It's been really interesting to read your journey!

Very nice Del and welcome to the Forum! As to handbrake, I fited new pads and it only marginaly made a difference.Buy chauks for the wheels leave the handbrake off if left for a while, seems to be a general consensus, and good advice. Sticky buttons is ongoing am about to try a new solution so will post if any good.
I am In Italy at the moment (Without my Maserati as still waiting for new water pump). On tuesday will be visiting Maserati Museum so will post photos.
I could of had a factory tour but I needed my VIN,Perhaps next year..... to be continued!

Thanks Joe,

I’m guessing my handbrake will still be marginal, but our driveway is steep so have to give it the best chance! Garage is level thankfully so no need once parked.

I’ve got quotes for either 7 buttons or all of them - away at the moment, but happy to share the info when I get back. If it’s an alcohol based solution you’re thinking of, I know there can be issues but I’m new to this, so don’t really know although I think there’s quite a lot of conflicting advice out there.

I was lucky enough to have a tour of the MC20 production line in April before I bought the Spyder through a contact that knows the management which was a good trip. Do you mean that you’re visiting the Panini collection? If so it’ll be a great visit.

Enjoy Modena and worth a visit to Enzo Ferrari museum too.

Hi Del,
Yes you are correct it is the Panini collection, not sure if they have a 4200 spyder on display, will see.
The general view is forget the handbrake and just leave it in gear, trouble is In all my years driving that is something i have never done, but i suppose on the odd occasion
it wont do any harm.
As to buttons, all have tried with varing degrees of sucsess, it seems to send them off and get them professionaly done is the way to go, but it is expensive and time consuming if you are taking them out yourself.
Anyway a plate of pasta calls!
all the best
PS can you post some photos of your interior.

Lovely place. Interested to see if the collection has changed any in the last few years. I believe you can no longer get parmesan there anylonger?

Hi Allan, cheese shop was still opem mate, bit pricey for their goods though. My car is stuffed with wine and pasta did not want to chance buying cheese, as i think the customs guys object to it coming into country.
Strange one day you can bring as much meat and cheese as you like next day it a dangerouse substance!
Ahh dear old Brexit!

I see they have moved the Stradale prototype onto the upper floor. It is an excellent place to visit.

Hi Joe,

That looks like a great trip! It's years since I was there, but still looks just as good.

Attached is a PDF of the pics from when I bought the Spyder - there are some interior ones there. If there's anything in particular you'd like a close-up photo of, let me know and I'll send.
