Who is this Matt & SportsItalia he talks about?

Do people really finance 10 year old cars? I thought you only financed new or nearly new cars.

Disclaimer. I never use finance.

I've had to for a mortgage otherwise in your camp.

I imagine finance has lots of benefits to those not wanting or not having the cash all on one go.

Just watched the video and very good indeed especially the advice on inspecting and treating subframes as they really are not nice to change.
Well Done Sports Italia.

Yet another fickle YouTuber living on the edge of solvency to support a serious car buying habit. Whilst the car is in their possession it's the greatest thing ever. Once they've sold it, it was a terrible and glad they got rid.
Is he? I hope not. Seems like a decent lad and he works hard, far as I can tell.

Churning through cars, though, is crucial. Keep one too long or have nothing new to show and the subs get bored and feck off, viewing goes down, ad revenues decline and pop you're out of business.

Sounds like most of us to be honest. The only bit you missed is about 10 years later we’ll have forgotten all the bad bits and want the car back!

I did hear that correct, he has a ferrari and this car on finance? This sort of thing should be banned. It encourages those without the money to borrow and often live well above their means.

Unless he mentioned finance to bring him closer to the masses

Financing can be a good way to avoid tax on selling investments to make a purchase. Also if you investment pays a div/return greater than the loan interest rate, why wouldn't you finance something.

Agreed on living beyond your means though...

yes i agree regarding the investment side. Money is better in your own bank rather than someone else's. I don't agree with promoting finance though, there are quite a few who aren't able to control their purchase urges.

I don’t think, by talking about the costs, he is promoting it. It’s not exactly an advert for an online casino, which for me do prey on that kind of person.

I suspect the those that are living beyond their means are more likely to do so with a flash Audi on PCP rather than a 10 year old Maserati or the Ferrari, as these will also come with the considerable maintenance costs, which can’t be financed in the same way.

Yes another valid way of looking at this.
I wasn't expecting the finance mention/plug/comments at the end of the video.

What he said. Not everyone has £30k sitting in the bank to spend on a car. That’s a year’s take home pay for some of us.

Finance is not the root of all evil. Managed well, it’s a good way of balancing risk and liquidity.

Agree. If you can afford the deposit and monthly payment then you can afford the car these days. I don’t really buy into the idea it encourages people to live beyond their means. Maybe it does some, but people have always done that since time began. We also live in a consumption based world now where ownership isn’t the end goal it once was and the electric car revolution will only cement this approach.

Thread drift I know but how can people live on low salaries running a house either with renting or buying and a car and live ?
Everything is so expensive today.
