I agree with lots of the above, and think the answer depends on whether this would a) be your only car, or one of several, and b) what type of driving you want to do in it.

I owned a Granturismo S as my daily driver, and it was lovely. However, it then morphed into being a weekend toy, and (IMO) it’s too big and too heavy to really enjoy on English country lanes.

Jon's right, the GT variants are big old lumps. Amazing GT car, but for all that anyone might say 'it shrinks around you', it doesn't. It's still nigh-on 2t, 5m long and 2m wide. Near as dammit the same footprint as a Landie Disco. That said, they're practical, sound divine and are achingly beautiful. And, let's not forget a lot of fun to drive. Just not as sharp as a GS.

Sharper than a QP though?

The GS in your list is a Forum Members car, and a bargain.
The 4.2 GT will have the variators as a shadow hanging over your ownership.
The QP lovely as it is, is a diesel.

Do you want a motorway muncher or something to have a bit of fun in?

That GS is just lovely and seems a bargain with those miles....Who's it....Looks very well looked after. If you want a GS that has to be worth a look....

Hi Fran and welcome. You’re at the start of a scintillating journey! Most points already covered. 4200 / GS noticeably smaller and lighter than GT and feel it. 4200 facelift (2005 onwards) is the real bargain if you can find a minter - but a lot of less than perfect cars out there. It’s 90% Gransport but about 5 grand less in equivalent condition.
A QP or GT will usually cost more to run.
Service history is essential just to show it’s been looked after. Pre purchase inspection essential on private sale cars, warranty on trade ones and buy from a reputable dealer that knows the marque.
Good place to start is Richard Grace (Richard Grace cars) even if just for a chat - and I know he has previously sold the GS you’ve seen advertised so he can advise on that car. Google him or his contact is on this forum somewhere. Marios at autoshield Manchester will do a PPI for any car, or also just a chat, very knowledgable

I’ve had QP diesel loaners when my GC has been in for a service. Lovely place to be and powerful enough. I know they take some flak for being a diesel but that doesn’t detract from them being a nice motor. Like others have said, how will you use it, and definitely test drive them. I was adamant I wanted a GT until I drove the cabrio and loved it ( much to the wife’s delight). Try and get them driven on the same day/ weekend if you can, so the comparison is fresh in your mind. Good luck!

That GS was my car which I sold the current owner back in 2018 so happy to advise by PM if anyone is looking at purchasing.
It's also well known to Marios @ Autoshield.

QP GTS (4.7) are cracking value at the minute, if I were on the hunt for a budget Maserati, I think it would be there.

Also, a forum member with a newer QP GTS (3.8TT) limited edition with 48k miles has contacted me as he wishes to sell.

PM me if its of interest and Ill put you in touch, its not quite under £30k but not far off and a stupid amount of car for the money.

Stunning car.

Contact Richard Grace and Marios at Autoshield Maserati for their suggestions and thoughts.

I'd go with the GranSport. I was in the same position almost 4 years ago and bought my GS from Richard Grace. It is a lovely car.
