Welcome Gamma Ray, no I've got an Argentine Blue 4200...it's often seen on the 338 from Westbourne to the airport...if you want a second opinion give me a shout. The guys at Emblem are perfectionists and will tell you straight.

Martin - thanks. What are the guys at Classic Connection like? I haven't had any dealings with them before. Would they be amenable to an inspection from Emblem do you think? I've arranged to drive the car on Monday.

As ever insist on one......if they are happy to sell you a car they should be prepared to stand over it

Safe to say Emblem do buy their combs from "Finest teeth'r'us" so if you get three pages of faults make sure you work out how many involve missing cable ties and a dissapointing weft to the carpet's weave, and focus on the important isues, but they will certainly give you a detailed list!!!

I drive past that place and they do seem to stock a fair amount of "my sort of stuff" - usually the sort of stuff that drives garages in to administration!!!

Paco, Parisien, Andyk, dem maser - thanks for the comments/input. It may be difficult for me to make an objective assessment, seeing as I've never driven anything as powerful or with a semi-auto 'box, so the experience is going to be interesting! I guess I'll either love it or hate it. My worry is that I'll probably want to write out a cheque there and then. Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes.

.......but ONLY after an indie inspection....promise??!!

Best £200-3300 you'll spend on the care.......if its perfect.....nothing to spend for year plus.....if poor....could be spending £4-5K putting her right.

Watch out for clutch slippage...If it doesn't engage straight away and feels like its hunting for the gear then it probably needs a clutch which is one of the most expensive bits to replace....2500ish...A clutch wll last on average around 30 to 35k according to Dick Lovett Maserati....

Hold on will link up a few checks you can consider yourself, but for the clutch you need an SD readout to give you any idea.......but if done recently should be safe enough for quite a while

Sounds like you may have found a bargain Gamma good luck mate.

I have to say I like the coluor combo. Did you haggle on the price or will you do that subject to the inspection!

Switches are peanuts from DA or silmilar you can get the drivers seat bolster done for a couple of hundred quid or re-colonised for less.

I would haggle once you have the report. It has been with them for a very long time so I would have said you could squeez the price, at least enough to put the worn bits right.

New tyres may be pushing it a bit. Not ideal but if they are in good nic then just replace them when they wear out.
