I watched the new series last night - discovery channel a Fiat Dino Coupe, bought in Italy, 6000km from new (apparently stored by Italian Police since almost new as the previous owner had a shady past - something to with a bloke called Don and a horses head, and all for 15000 euro

The show is a bit stage set - especially when it comes to buying and selling them, but they have some nice cars and shows what can be done for not really too much money. The Fiat is a car I have never seen and it looked fantastic. Next week is Morgan so it looks like they have moved a bit more upmarket from previous series with cars such as MX5, Stag, Lotus Elan, Saab 900 etc etc. Its been going a few years on the sky channels, with a few off shoot programmes featuring Mike Brewer and his 6'8" mechanic Edd.

Still I like the program and await to be chastised........

They restore a few decent cars in this series, E39 M5 one of them, was on PH a few weeks back, only fetched around £6500. I really do find Mike Brewer annoying though especially when he says "oooold aaaaaaaaaaat y'r 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand"

its a great series, with a large serving of Cheese.

It is staged too, they often do things like fit new tyres then forget to list them in the total.

Still, you can watch them time and time again and still find them entertaining.

I find it essential watching, but Brewer is a complete nob with zero knowledge about cars and even less sympathy - he sits his lardy @rse all over the new paintwork and rags the tits off of everything he drives. Apparently Ed doesn't do a great deal of the work either - it's all done by Paul Brackley who appears as Ed's 'mate, Paul' from time to time. Regardless of this, it's still addictive and I even enjoy watching repeats!

You describe Brewer well Maf, i hate it when he thrashes cars from cold and does not let them warm up, the one episode that really annoyed me was when they wanted to restore the Sierra Cosworth, Brewer thrashes it on the test drive, brings it back and does not let the Turbo cool down properly i.e; leaving the engine running for a couple of minutes before turning off. nob head.

Makes me laugh as do the 60 minute make over programs etc quality of the work is glossed over very quickly and usually sub standard for most on here to accept with their beasties, i can remember one couple who had that program with Nancy boy Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen at the helm have there house made over , came back on the Sunday night and within seconds both were in tears, they admitted in the following weeks tabloids that the quality of work was sh1te with paint runs everywhere and huge tears and mismatching of the wallpapering , good telly tho

Yes, one of my fave shows over the last few years.

Not a great fan of Mike "Hold out your hand" Brewer with his motor trader stereotype but an entertaining show none the less.

Favourite was a vintage Fiat 500 they did a few years back oh and a boat tail Alfa Spider

Anyone remember 'The used car road show' on the old 'men and motors'? Met the chap that used to be on that the other night at a party........ which was nice.....

Watched the Weeler Dealers tonight (recorded) I think the mieage on the Dino was probably real and I guess the Garibaldi probaby broke the centre consol looking for the owners tools of the trade!

What I find really anoying is the fact that they strip off the bright work to repair a wing or failed head lamp lifter and then they dont even wipe the grime from the area behind let alone detail it.... How often like the little Lotus Elan do they replace a shock and leave all the spalling rust on everything around it, not even so much as a wipe with an oily rag!

I can live with Mike Brewer and his way as he's a local lad!!!

Could not agree more - I spend more time cleaning everything in sight when I do repair or replace a broken part than I do actually doing the work.
Entertaining telly mind you
