Has anyone any recommendations for a firm to refurbish my GS wheels? I'm in Portsmouth and would prefer to use someone local.
Want the proper job done, so not a mobile firm.
Thanks
Val
I used these fella's for my diamond cut M3 alloys. They're great lads and when I had a problem with the wheels, they sorted them. The only sad part was after they sorted it they made a point of say "we should have given you this last time" - it was a bit of paper saying if the wheels blmish in the next 6 months, we'll refurb at 1/2 price. Having paid £480 for all 4, I was stunned. As it goes, I sold the car not long after so I dont know if the second attempt was better. They did also tell me that powdercoat was more durable than the diamond cut.Try pristine wheels Val they are up here near me in Milton keynes well Woburn but i think they run a franchise thing, uk wide , top professional firm and , no half measures , all they do is wheels , stripped, prime and powder coat or other finishes givem a call think they are a little on the dear side about £70-80 a wheel but they are the best
regards loz
No wheel refurbishers like diamond cut alloys as somehow they come out of the factory with a lacquer coating which is really weak and lifts after a short time. Water gets under the lacquer and starts to corrode the alloy underneath. When diamond cut wheels are refurbished they do not apply the lacquer (can't remember the reason) and so bare alloy is exposed which will also corrode over time as it is subjected to water, road salt etc. The only way to keep on top of this is to regularly (i.e. weekly) polish the alloy with a metal polish like Autosol. My E30 convertible has aftermarket cross-spoke alloys with a diamond cut, polished alloy rim - fortunately the cross spoke centres are gloss black. They're a real pain to keep clean just the rims, so a detailed design across the whole M3 wheel must be almost impossible!
Guys, being a bit thick here, can anyone tell me what Diamond Cut alloys are, I am assuming that they are a milled alloy wheel, which is then only lacquered? Sort of what Maserati call Ball Polished?
MAF, polish your wheels weekly!!!!!!! Lifes too short!

Given the choice what would you do.....polish your alloys or be dragged indoors to perform some sort of household duties (of the cleaning kind for those of you with minds in the sewer!)...? Anyway, it's only the rims so takes 5 minutes!
