Morning all - over the weekend my gts has decided to part company with the left hand side headlamp wash cover - which is nice of it! No idea where it went but that'll teach me to wash the headlights. I was wondering if from the picture anyone would be able to tell me if it looks like just the cover has gone or if more bits have fallen off?37C9B63C-6D4F-410E-A605-C8CB49A522E5.jpeg

Hum this old chestnut.

Basically, with your lights on, don’t press the washers over 50 mph. The slipstream is so fierce it rips it off. It would have gone over the top of the car.

Looking at it, I would say you have lost the cover and the head/arm it attaches to.

David Askew or Trident Soares might be able to supply you a used one.

Actually you weren't going fast enough as the headlight washers don't work over 130km/h. Agree about losing more than just the cover.

The cover is about 40 quid from Maserati, plus the cost of getting it resprayed.

The telescopic arm on the other hand :eek::eek:

Very interesting. This happened to mine a couple of weeks ago, but luckily I was on the driveway so managed to rescue the parts.
These are the bits your missing (see pics) the tabs break off (see pen pointing) but unfortunately you can't buy just the jets, you have to get the whole telescopic tube at circa 130 quid.
I managed to reconstruct the tabs by cutting up some cable ties and glueing them on. It seems OK so far, but I avoid using them.
I've been reliably informed that you can just glue the jet back in, if you still had it that is, so I'll be doing that so it doesn't happen again.

Definitely worth trying that Peugeot one though! Although in that pic, it doesn't appear to come with the jets on the end?

Did I read once someone tethered the cover with a length of fishing wire?
Perhaps possible to anchor the jet head using the flange/plate/whatsitcalled.

Ha ha, that's a great idea!
Although, I wonder how much paint damage would be caused with that rattling about on your front bumper until you notice.

That's a good point. Could use one of those retractable dog walking leashes bolted to the bonnet - no one would notice, would they? :)
Presumably the jet head is designed to be removable for cleaning, etc. If the length of wire used was short enough not to allow this …
Then cut the wire whenever removal is required.
