What tools?

I am being extremely brave (foolhardy) and attenpting to replace the rear woofer under the parcel shelf of my QP which I think I have blown (Well there's nothing but occasional fart)

I'm following the steps detailed here to get to the rear parcel shelf

I've never done anything on a car except top up the window wash and changed a wheel once. My tool kit is aimed at home DIY....

I need advice on what tools to get to help me out. It's mainly the awkward location and no space to turn the traditional spanner

First problem nut. This is one of the two bolt holding the backrest . I only have a 13mm spanner which is chewing up the corners as I can't get in the same plane as the nut. I need a long thing to go in and then a handle. I can see what I need in my head ...!

Next problem are the bolts under the rear seat. How to get at them? Reading the instruction It's not clear to me if I actually need to undo these in order to tilt the rearseat forward

What tool set do I need and where's the best place to go for it?

Yep Halfords Pro. Took my 25 year old toolkit in which comes with a lifetime guarantee.

I though “this will be interesting”

...but no, replaced without question, 3 ratchets, split 17mm and 2 extension bars.

Staggered!

Just a small to midsize socket set with sockets and bits will do many things.

This would be good as a starter set.you could keep for future jobs without going bananas:

This gets you a few more basic tools/sockets/bits:

Not a bad little deal:

Like may others I have a fair bit of Halfords Advanced stuff including cabinets but many many hundreds have been spent. The best way to get decent amateur tools this side of SnapOn and the like.

For light occasional use any cheap set will be decent enough though.

Just go to the middle isle in Aldi Stephe, there is plenty of bargain tools there.

Oh, take a trolley.

Agreed Phil.

That same £20 would get you a nice 13mm 1/2" drive single socket on the Snap On van wouldn't it?

I would hate to think Dean I'm just in the process of re insuring my tools here in France and I know it would buy me quite an impressive car.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Have sourced quite a nice set from the father in law so all good on that front! Amazing how much easier things are with the right tools!

Now I'm in the boot trying to get rid of the boot lining. Went to Halfrawds and got their Trim removal set. Not cheap, but again so much easier to remove the black plastic pin things.

Now I'm stuck on how to disconnect the boot light from the boot trim. Not sure what to press and pull to discinnect the wires to the light. It looks to me like I press down on the ridged bit on the top and then pull to the left but it's not budging.

Looks from that pic you are right and press and hold down on that top left clip then pull out left. You may need a good pill as it would have been on there some years. A little wiggle up down left right might help during pulling.

Check that yellow bit does not need to be pulled out first as a lot of these connectors have locking tabs.

This is hila
You're enjoying this aren't you? :)
.....

It's hilarious, especially as it could just as well be me (apart from the actually trying to do stuff part).

But it is a bit of a worry for Le Mans (DV), as I had assumed you would be chief mechanic on that trip....
