What other cars

Being in the nice position of owning / having owned 3 of my dream cars so far, the question rears its head of 'what next'

Personally I quite fancy, at some point owning an example of the following:

GS or GT
Roller or more likely a Bentley GT / Spur
Ferrari (no idea which one, but if I was 16, a Testarossa)
Jag XK-R
Bristol (hey it's a dream list)
Alfa SZ
Alfa GTV6 (transaxle, natch)

Most of these can be had for sensible money these days. (Well maybe apart from the Testarossa and the Bristol), but what else should be on there?

Let the flames begin :)

Cheers

A6GCS
250F
Khamsin

And that's just this wonderful marque, don't get me started on the rest ;)

Well, I say. That A6 is rather lovely. Not sure they *speak* to me though, if that makes sense?

Intellectually I'd have to agree, emotionally, I think I need to see them in the flesh :D

Crikey, mine changes daily!

Today I would like a QP 4.7 S (thats on most days, that) and an 'old' C4S 911 for smoking around in.

I know its not exciting, but I had one years ago on extended loan and it was great, but not a £80k car. You can buy a nice one EASILY for £20k today...and while they're no Maserati, they're a nice daily. In fact, I know somone who has one as his main family car, with two kids!! His wife does the school run in it.....

On the 'dream' list....I'd love a 575 Maranello. Drive a 550 a fair bit a few years back and it was lovely....would love one in the garage.

Hmm. QP I can understand. Never liked Porsche *drivers* much (or more accurately all the Porsche drivers I ever met were not massively pleasant. Present company excluded).
Always quite fancied an 928S

*Oh* Lotus Esprit Turbo S1

Part of the problem is, of course, as with most dreams, I suspect the reality will fall short.

Theres loads of old stuff I'd like, many of which are not flash at all. i.e. Triumph Dolomite, ideally in that mustard yellow colour.

I know, I know...

Funny that - I very nearly bought a Dolomite Sprint in that yellow (must be a theme here!) in about 1986. I paid the deposit, had a mechanic mate check it over and found it was as rotten as a pear. The seller refused my deposit back until I went back with a few mates and asked him to reconsider!

Sadly I never scratched my Dolomite Sprint itch. They were a quick car in their day - 130bhp and the first 16v engine (I think) although just a single camshaft.

I think you need a little lie down :)

There needs to be an emotional attachment as well. I'm quite visual and tactile so it normally only happens in the flesh, or occasionally aurally (blower Bentley, anyone).

For me, its more a plan of attack:

Currently 3200
Next:

4200
GranSport OR Ferrari 348
F355
F360 (maybe)

I've not given it any thought after that. It all depends on, reliability and depreciation at the end of the day!

My list is too long as it changes all the time. I will probably never do a Ferrari as I find them a bit in your face and I never actually liked the 355 when I drove them. Strange I know.

The guy whose working on my Lancia...was within a whisker of navigating one back in 1980 or with a the top Irish rally driver at the time, the car was owned by Chequered Flag....but they pulled out due to a big accident involving the crowd.......

I tend to agree, but it seems foolish to not at least try :)

Dream car should be one Ferrari sometime..Could be a 458 (or Scuderia 430), or a Daytona, 250 GT, 308 GTS.

But lots of others that are closer than dreaming, like a QP when i have children, for example.

Also, a Vantage if i ever think of selling the coupe.
