Back in the 1980s I was in boots the chemist in Cambridge on a Saturday , it was quite busy , barcode Scanning was a recent thing , i hadn‘t noticed what this woman was buying until it didn’t scan and the teenage assistant held it up in the air (fairly obviously not knowing what it was for) and shouted over to the other till
how much is this KY jelly , it’s not scanning

I was what they called a sky pioneer in that I had a satellite system right at the very beginning , late 80s
The astra satellite was a new thing , on one of the channels they had a advert running 24/7 showing clips from various European TV shows on a loop
One Saturday morning I was walking past a major high street TV retailer when I noticed they had this ad running on a a load of TVs in the window , I thought , no it can't be the same , it must be edited on a vhs tape
But no I waited and there it was , one clip was for a German pron channel, the scene was a camera in a helicopter which zoomed into a house window where a woman on her knees was making a man very happy, uncensored, it was only for a couple of seconds but yes, a bj in a shop window
I went into the shop and asked if they'd watched it all the way through
no it's only an advert for astra
So I told them and they watched it , 10 minutes later the manager was running to the back of the shop to turn it off.
