What have you done to your Maserati today?

Chewed wire all sorted. Now running happily. Put it on the ramp, removed the undertray and arch liners to do a bit of lanoguarding and proper clean. Any ideas of where to get the little 7 mm screws? Thanks.
Good news, what did you need to replace in the end?

Crank position sensor, couple of knock sensors and the alternator wire to the plug. Once plenum was off - which was quite easy, access was really good. My son is used to JLR stuff, first time up close with the Maserati engine, he thought it was great to work on. Need to get it Mot'd and out for a drive. Thanks.

Service due tomorrow with PrestigeAutoworks. I could do it myself, but I still feel that these car's re-sale would suffer if there was a lack of recognised stamps in the book, and that an expert eye every 2 years is worth it.
So got it up in the air in preparation and got a few bits done I've had on my list.
1000045766.jpg
Fitted two new (Skoda) Parking sensors in the front, to replace the faulty ones - All good.
Replaced a broken exhaust clamp on the rear.
Drilled out a sheared undertray bolt from last year.
Sprayed ACF50 on many things.
Physically check the clutch plate through the inspection window, to see if the circa 38% Wear suggested by the Launch X431 is realistic ... and pleased to say there are still prominent grooves in the friction material and thickness seems to be about 5.9mm-6mm which would suggest that there's plenty of life in it. (new is 6.1-6.3mm, Worn is 5.1-5.3mm) so happy with that. The car has done 37k miles, so begining to wonder if it had a clutch early in it's life, although there is no paperwork to suggest that.

The afternoon didn't end so well, when I went to lower the car back down again, and the Hydraulic Power Unit for my lifts decided it didn't want to play :too_sad:
Car is currently stuck up in the air and customer service was shut as it was after 5pm, so very much hoping that Tech support get back to me ASAP in the morning.
It seems that the motor doesn't want to turn, but I didn't want to start pulling it apart as it's under warranty, so fingers crossed....

Picked the GT up after getting a 2 stage paint correction and ceramic coating.

Obviously being Italian and temperamental the parking sensors have stop working. I suspect it could be the ceramic coating getting in between the caps that's caused the fault. Going to try the WD40 trick, however has anyone else had similar issues before after getting a coating done?

Front wheel arch liners are all out thanks to a bolt extractor kit which made very easy work of getting the chewed up torx bolts out, Have bought new stainless ones as replacements. Made good progress on cleaning, treating the front subframe with Buzzweld RE, followed by CiO and then a liberal splashing of their new Chassis Guard lanoil based product. While there I took both headlight out and dry sanded them and re lacquered them for future UV protection. Both front wheels where cleaned, de-tarred, clayed, and protected with some TDG Raspberry wheel sealant.

Just got to put it all back together now...

Well today, my friend had his Ghibli ECU and TCU remapped by Celtic tuninng.

Fascinating that they actually downloaded the maps, sent them to Cornwall, modified them and sent them back. Completely painless, although pleasingly Heath Robinson removing the ECU and plugging a load of flying leads :)

My friend's car feels very different. More eager, but also more sort of 'mature' Less a puppy, more a trained hunting dog that knows what it can do and is ready to do it on command.

There *may* be a change that alters the RPM for permissible downshifts in Sport / Manual, or my friend may have just not hit the paddle correctly on approach to roundabouts. He'll have to test it more thoroughly.....

Excellent company to deal with. Highly recomended.

Lucky Roary was the 'model' for my Spa training session - feet fettled, top massaged, body buffed - he came out sparkling (and received more compliments than usual at the petrol station) - and I thought he was clean in the first place - how wrong I was. It was a thoroughly constructive afternoon - good fun applying the snow foam but this amount is a serious overkill 91c52967-bf46-4c73-af85-060f6a45e99f.jpg
