Had the GS a year now, cant believe its been so long, but I change my cars every 2 years, so would usually start thinking about it now.

To be honest, I luv the GS so much, do you think I should keep it or trade up?

The GranT is the natural choice but the 4.7 is the one I want ant the prices are still so high.

What are the rest of you guys planning to do?

Conaero the Granturismo is a natural choice but on paper it looks under powered and after the Gransport I fear you might find it a bit mundane. The Granturismo S seems like the natural choice if you are going to stick with Maserati. It is the only model which comes close to the Gransport performance.
Personally, I would stick with the Gransport for another year or so till the S comes more into budget. Like you I have been eyeing the Granturismo S.

I think the other thing you should bear in mind is that as beautiful as Granturismo is, the size of the car is considerably bigger than the Gransport. I don't of any other sports car which offers 4 proper seats which is as small as the Gransport.

Alternatively, you could go mad and buy a Ferrari 550 Maranello, perhaps seeking out one of the last with low mileage. Whatever you do don't be a traitor by buying an Aston or Jag.........KEEP THE ITALIAN FLAG FLYING

Conaero, I don't see the GT as a direct replacement for the coupe/GS (from Maseratis view)...its a completely different beast from many perspectives.

So why change it to another/different car, if its 2nd hand, why not just go for a slightly newer one, certainly thats what I intend doing in 2011!!

But keep us up to speed on what you decide...................Ferrari.............????!!....eeeemmm.....;)....!!!

Evening all! :)

Matt, well I'm definitely biased- I'm keeping mine!! You won't get the same exclusivity / power / handling / comfort combo unless you go up big bucks, but i know you know that already!...plus there's a few more FD trinkets you can add if you want to sharpen it up....plus I had a look in the back on a bentley GT the other day, I'm sure the GS has more room!

anyway, i'm about to scratch a similar itch to yours..i'm seriously considering buying a westie next week!

You know what, I think I will keep mine for another 2 years. I am a little concerned about depreciation, because I have had my car a year now and its not lost a penny, probably gone up £1k or so.

Cheers Guys

Think we have all pondered this one at some time or other , and try as i may i cant come up with anything that offers similar exclusivity , the performance and the exquisite comfort without adding Minimum £25K on top your Maserati value £55k then gives you 3-4 options which could just possibly fill that itch

How many supercars less than four or five years old offer the kind of thrills, performance, exclusivity and above all one of the most exotic badges ever for the kind of money a Gransport costs?

well I chopped the GS in for a landrover disco 3 which has proven v useful, when lifestyle allows I'll probs be after a 'truisimo S or a late QP depending on what I'm doing at the time. I'm liking the idea of a QP automatic at the moment..

I've considered departing with mine, and to be honest depreciation has not been THAT bad, as you said, maybe prices are up there, keeping hold. I'd see the GS to become a classic if you're able to keep it. Engine-wise, I do prefer the dry-sump in the GS to the wet-sump in the GT series. Mine has only 6.5K from new, it's a very rare colour, has all the extras, I'm convincing the wife to keep it and find space in the driveway for the new car.

I don't really have any intention of selling the Bora but in terms of my every day car my Subaru is up for sale. In the immediate term I am running around in my dad's old BMW 120d Sport (which is great economical and was ordered with a serious options count by the original owner), longer term I might replace the Impreza with maybe an Exige with the factory performance pack or although I am not actually a big Ferrari fan a more modern supercar than the Bora might be a nice addition to the stable, maybe a 355 which hopefully like the Bora should at least be depreciation proof making it a more affordable ownership proposition than it might at first appear but then do I really want two Italian mid-engined supercars.......?

I really should also get round to selling my MGB but it was my first car and although I know I should I just can't bring myself to do it, it was meant to go when I bought my Sunbeam Tiger but 20 years on I still have both! Then I should either restore or get rid of the tweaked 90's Mini Cooper I have knocking around. I sometimes think maybe I should get rid of both of those (Mini and MGB - the Tiger is another 'keeper') and get something much older just to have something really different, you will probably all think I am mad but I have always fancied a sports bodied Austin 7.

Still need to get my new business up and running first before I can worry about stuff like that!

Robin, I have always hankered after a Bora, would you me a big favour and start a new thread outlining the history of the Bora and how you find it on todays roads, I would be very appreciative. Some idea of cost and the big no no's and things to watch out for, servicing costs, parts and availability?

Post it in either Maserati Chat or Classic Maserati in the Tech section.

I look forward to it?

Agree the GT is not really a GS replacement...Drive one and you will realise that. Seems to have different character to the GS. I think it's the auto box...Know the S version, thats a different story but as you say prices are still high.

I am one of those odd bods who likes a manual, so my 2005 Coupe GT is a keeper unless I get the urge to update to a newer lower mileage example (not many about, unlike those common GS :) )

nfm I drove a 4200 manual before I bought my GS. I have to say that I loved the manual shift and was pleasantly suprised.......a bit viscious when starting off until you get used to it but dead easy thereafter

I have pretty much made up my mind that my next car will be the Bentley Arnage T 2005 onwards, just need to find someone willing to pay a fair price for the Coupe first.
