Hi, sorry I haven't responded to recent questions. So... three weeks back the car went to Meridien (Maserati dealership). They did their best but struggled to find the source, they removed the top of the dash and water tested different areas. Then they removed the entire dash and carried on checking, water testing, resealing various etc They used an endoscope and located two areas where the water was coming in; however they couldn't get a clear enough image to confidently suggest a fix.
They suggested that they use a high-res telescopic endoscope; however there was a problem... Ferrari and Maserati share this ONE device and it is used throughout the UK and Ireland. Additionally only a few engineers could use the device. As we were all unwilling to wait for this to arrive in Hampshire they took my car on their transporter to the Maserati head-office where the device was located.
The source of the leak was then found under the driver’s side A-pillar. There was a hole about an inch wide where the sealant had deteriorated / failed. So although the water was coming into the foot well in two different areas it was this hole that was causing the issue.
Maserati were unable to get at the area due to the location and the car is now at Ross Packard (as the wing has to be removed in order for Maserati to guarantee a proper fix, which is what I want). The car will be ready early next week, I just hope that the wing is removed and attached successfully (as they can be troublesome due to the bonding).
As a side note I have also contacted Maserati head-office in order to start the complaint process as I am unhappy that such a problem should exist.
As that said I can't wait to get back behind the wheel - she's worth the effort!
