There is a guy near by who has a BMW with the worst exhaust I have ever heard and so loud. Parks in a walled area and starts up at 5 in the morning and lets the car sit there idling for 5 minutes before pulling off. I’m tempted.

Might be the cold start.
Mine is very noisey on cold start, the turbo bypass valve opens to help warm up the cat quicker for emissions.

I've been very fortunate to have neighbours in both houses I've lived in whilst owning my GS who liked the car and the noise. The only person in my last road who didn't like the car was my ex-wife's divorce lawyer! He made sure to mention me owning it in just about every letter and court hearing throughout the process; my legal team and I had a standing joke about it. Once the divorce was finalised I may or may not have reversed it into his driveway and my right foot may or may not have slipped very *h ard on the accelerator a few times

All my neighbours like the Masers. The only slight thing was in winter when I had to idle to de-mist and the drive is right below their (at that time) baby's window.

So I just crept down the road and waited until it was demisted.
