I hope I didn't come across all s**ty, that wasn't my intention, so please forgive me if it looks that way. To be fair if they were only 20 mins up the road I would have taken it back and I am sure they would have sorted it but, for me, it's a 2.5 hour trip. I wish them well and like you say it may have just been one of those things. It's the Maserati curse, I told you my car hates me, but I will break her !!!!!!

Nothing back from VOSA for some time.
No reply from Maserati at all.

Have ALL affected cars now been reported to VOSA?

If they don't perform a recall then its unlikely all will have checked theirs off their own back, and as has been highlighted, its not something that is easily visible for an MOT.

Many owners wont know until they perhaps next get the car serviced so with Spring coming/here it could take more time for the fuller picture to emerge.

French chaps are also now discovering the same problem on the REAR upper wishbones on 3200 :(

Interesting. I was speaking to phil at PK about getting marci transported down and he advised that he had seen one recently with the rears split too........

Maybe they can submit complaints with the French equivalent of VOSA?

Yes, that's happening already.

The MoT equivalent here is only every two years though, so it can take some time for cars to be inspected. That said, I'm not sure that any of the UK cars have had cracks found at the MoT station; if anything, cars have been given an MoT pass when they almost certainly had cracks.

Phil has a theory the front lower and rear uppers could be caused by braking forces.

Other than a significant trauma like a deep pothole, these parts should be designed to handle any forces produced by accelerating, braking or the likes. I have no idea if there is are any other common links causing the failures other than the mould line - every one so far has failed on the mould line and I think it is significant that the new part no longer has a mould line.........not that I am synically suggesting that maserati are trying to cover this up and hope it all just goes away (sighs and rolls eyes)

Yes, the French car rear link also failed on the visible line left from the moulding process.

Mr Machlachan

Thank you for your email.

I have collated evidence and discussed the case with VSB Senior Engineer.

I have referred back to the manufacturer and we are now awaiting a
response from them.

Subject: Re: 25733; MASERATI 3200 GT - FRONT LOWER WISHBONE CRACKED

Hi john
I was wondering how the investigation was coming on.
I have
received the new part through and it is different in that it has no
mould lines on it so I have to assume that at some point maserati have
realised the mould line was causing stress fractures and have changed
the forge process.
My car will be transported down to Edinburgh to PK
supercars next week to have the work done. the cracked wishbone will be
there if you wish to view it or seek the maserati specialist's opinion
on it since I understand he has a few now cracked at the same mould
line.
Regards
Greg
