Should have kept my mouth shut - error lights back with avengence after a wash yesterday.

Additional symptom this morning - traction control kicks in over 2000rpm and car is nigh on undriveable unless you turn the traction control off.

Is this related to the abs sensor or something else?

I would say it sounds a bit wheel speed sensor like. Probably a rear one.

Thanks Zep.

Trip to Mario's in the new year me thinks.

Are the speed sensors suffering same availability issues as abs sensor?

On the advice of Mario's managed to get it booked in local to me at GC Motors in Harrogate who can diagnostic it and confirm it's a speed sensor.

But... They are advising that they won't get stock of speed sensors until March!

Looks like an enforced garaging on the way.

I am assuming that it is ok to just replace the one? I have a reliable indie that I have used for replacing brake discs etc. Are there any pitfalls in getting them to change the wheel bearing eg torque settings etc and/or new bolts etc

Yes you only need to replace the failed one, can’t comment on how easy as I used Sportsitalia

Fronts straight forward, rears a total nightmare. 9/10 it’s the NSF
On the money for mine!

Got mine from eurospares and fitted by GC Motors in Harrogate. Glad they got stock earlier than was feared.

Thanks all for help on this issue.

Thanks. That was what my local garage diagnosed on their OBD reader. Must find out details - they reset my service interval with no problem.

Can I just ask for torque settings on the bolts please.

With 53k on the clock and one front hub failing is it good practice to replace both?

One at a time is fine. Change the others as and when they go.

There isnt actually enough play in the bearings to fail an MOT. The abs sensor will give out of range readings with just a small amount of play in the bearing.

Finally ordered today and booked in with Marios on next Wednesday. Think I may look at selling the car in the Spring before I find the rears need changing!
