That was my understanding...thanks for the clarification/explanation. Sure it won't just benefit me. Grateful for IT support here!!That is one good reason, although you need to have a choice of endpoints to connect to, which not all set ups have.
If you want to access sites that are not available in your country of residence, or feel that you your online activities need a further layer of obfuscation.
Companies use them to show that data from internal systems to external laptops and so on is being encrypted, cannot be 'eavesdropped'. Also we can limit access to resources by allowing only access across a VPN. We use these at my company, and also for my home use, none of my internal network resources (files, bank records, emails etc) are accessible unless you connect to the VPN that lives in my loft.
They are now being marketed that everyone needs one 'for a safer internet' (Nord VPN I'm looking at you). Which is utter toss. Most people *don't* need them.

Got a bounce back on that...are you sure it's not fku?
Sometimes those cheeky airlines have prices set differently depending on where you are.. having a vpn mean they think you’re somewhere other than where you really are and sometimes offer a different price. Some vpns allow you to choose the ‘country’ you’re ‘in’.How does using a vpn help with booking flights?
