Finally the video from my recent Spa trip. A mix of in car from me and in car from my mate Rich in his Honda powered S1 Elise. Turn your speakers up and enjoy :D

Well done Dan, that took some editing I bet.

So, over the track the Lambo has the power and the elise has the handling.

Never really thought much of Lotus's but I am turning. Would not mind one as a track weapon, what does one like yours cost these days, not mint, just usable?

Great video Dan, I love Spa. I was surprised to see how little there was in it between the 2 cars. The Lambo clearly has the advantage on the straights, but he was all over you through the twisty bits. I'd imagine that Lotus would be great fun to drive with a revvy Honda lump installed.

Cheers chaps!

Matt, a Lotus like mine is priceless ;)
But you could probably get one of similar one for somewhere between £8-10k depending on miles and spec. You'd want to factor in new brakes and suspension to get the most from it and then the sky's the limit for all the other mods. You could possibly find a "cheap" Honda converted car for about £15k or SC Honda S1 Exige for £30k+ or an Audi powered one or a Duratec......
The nice thing about them is no two are the same.

No mine has still got the Metro engine in it, the one in the vid above is Honda powered.

Dan, that almost looks like a sedate drive in the Lambo on a Sunday afternoon, Hahaha, the growl from the Lotus is pretty cool. No I'm kidding, it must have been great and a lovely sound from the Italian Stallion.

My dad has my mates old MGF in his garage that he is playing with, that runs the K series engine, might nab that as my track weapon, it should do ok, it quick and RWD.

Did the MGF and Lotus share any other common underpinnings?

No only the engine. The rest of the lotus is a mish-mash of company parts bins; Citroen AX wiper motor, Corsa steering column, Metro wheel bearings, Astra (from the late '80s) door locks, etc.
A stripped out MGF would probably be pretty good fun, but I'd say it would be in the same league as an MX5... but an MX5 would be better imho.

Just watched it on Facebook Dan. Really good video and the second time you took Eau Rouge put butterflies in my stomach. One day soon I will drive Spa in my Maserati. I have to drive Eau Rouge, I just have to.

Hmm the view from the Lotus was a bit like what I saw Thursday Afternoon/Friday Evening...but a bit further away! LOL

Had an MGTF 160(later generation of F) for three years, and the mirrors look the same as the Lotus..

Did you know that a MGF is built on a Metro platform, but going backwards...even has the mounts for the brakes at the wrong end etc.
