Can’t see why people think the US election is any different to here. Never met an American I found offensive. In fact a day in Manhattan is a far more polite and pleasant experience than a day in the City

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can see the absurdity of America as a nation but for any doubters just look at how they manage an election, I think a show of hands would have been more democratic

I agree, it’s mad. But no more mad than the U.K. Here we are given our head of government after voting for someone to “represent” us in the commons. So I want so and so to be the Prime Minister (after all, that’s how they run the campaigns) but I might have to vote for an absolute **** trumpet for my constituency to get them. A show of hands would also be more democratic!

The PM isn’t head of state.

I’ve fixed that, but I think you get the point. The head of state is even harder to change!

Our system is really good, probably the best in the world. Might not be 100% democratic but it works.

We rarely get hung parliaments. We don’t end up with an ineffective legislature like happened to Obama. We don’t end up with no government like NI, Holland or Belgium. We don’t have coalitions with fascists like Greece or Austria. You won’t get an EDL, Monster Raving Looney or New Dawn MP.

True enough, no system is perfect. But I still don’t like that I have to choose an MP I don’t like to get a prime minister I do.

Conversely, my local MP was Tobias Elwood, I'm no Tory but I wasn't going to vote against him. He was the MP who dashed to PC Keith Palmer's aide during the terrorist attack and tried to resuscitate him. ANY bloke who does that is worthy of my vote, but Theresa May was PM, she was dire.

Reagan was value for money for sure, frankly he was probably the best Republican president the States have had in the last 40 years!

Wasn't it Reagan that asked Gorbachev at a summit "Do you believe in God?" Knowing that he was the head of an atheist state and yet was a 'soft atheist' by his own admission. Apparently following that Reagan would open the summits with a prayer and Gorbachev would close them saying "If it is God's will"...

So for Trump to win at the moment, Brazil have to beat Paraguay by two clear goals unless Paraguay score, then its three clear. AND Scotland defeat Italy and get the bonus point for 4 tries.

I think that's right.
