Tire Size Question

Hi I was wondering if a 335/35/20 tire fit on my existing rear rim 285/35/20 ?

Would the rear 285/35/20 tire fit on the front rim 245/35/20 ?

Thanks

In a word - No.

You can google the maximum tyre widths by wheel width. But bear in mind you also have to match the rolling circumference.

It'll fit but won't seal or stay on or drive very well

No chance though as that is over 2 inches wider and chuffin wide!

Any particular reason you want a tyre that wide?

I already have one inch wheel spacers on all 4 hubs. I was assuming it would have worked.....and make the GTS look aggressive.

LOL.....ride might be a bit hard and rough

This is another post another site.

What difference did you notice in terms of grip, handling, and ride quality?
I find the differences to be fairly subtle to be quite honest. Maybe a bit more compliant over rough surfaces, small pot holes, typical road construction type stuff. The backend seems a little more planted if really taking a sharp turn and aggressively using some throttle trying to get the rear to break loose a bit. Highway driving is the same in my novice opinion. I've only put on a few hundred miles and my Florida roads are so boring, I don't really get the opportunity to push them much in any twisties. I do like the wider look though, especially from the rear. No, NOT a Kardashian fan at all, but I do like a nice rear end and the tires fill up the wheel wells a bit better.:laugh2:

If you want a better ride, check your lower wishbone bushes and replace if necessary and follow that up with full alignment check. It transforms the car. Well worth spending the money there than just on tyres.

Your speaking for every one....lol
SURE IT WILL LOOK AGGRESSIVE ;)
TAKE A LOOK THESE ARE......... 315/35/20

315 is still a good inch narrower than a 335. The maximum tyre width for a 10.5 inch wide tyre is 295. Your insurers wouldn’t be impressed and the speedo would be miles out. But otherwise it’s all good!

Question
..Just trying to understand about the speedo will be out?

Im not changing the 20'' Rim size, just the width of the tire. Why would it mess with the Speedo?

If the profile is affected by the tyre width change then yes it can have an effect on the accuracy of the Speedo reading. To what level or percentage I am not clever enough to work out

As Dean says, the 35 part is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width.

I’d say it would be about 5% out.

I bought this GTS in May of this year, the summer tires on the car are 20 ''tires /rims. Drove the car for 6 months with the 20'' tires until November. Installed the 19'' winter tires on and noticed a more responsive pull off and the transmission does not sound as if it's lagging changing gears.
It's more performancy now.
I'm thinking these cars were tuned from factory with the 19'' tires. The 20'' tires are just for looks and to full the wheel well.

There's a few tyre comparators on line such as this one:
They won't give you maximum or minimum sizes for a given rim though, follow Zep's advice for that.

You need to separate the wheel size from the rolling circumference. Depending on your tyre dimensions the winter tyres may well have a smaller rolling circumference which would reduce the overall gearing, making the speedo read higher and allowing a higher engine speed for a given road speed. It would feel faster.

Putting a 335 tyre on the car will have exactly the opposite effect.
