My friend has a 2004 996 911 Turbo for sale, very low miles cat D and repaired by **** Lovett to a high standard. Has all the bills and the histort was that a mechanic bent it before it was delivered to the first customer..... I 've driven it and it's a great car but he just can not sell it.

Perhaps the price is not "right " then andy as everything has a nominal value.
I think i have heard of this car before, something rings a bell!
If it were the 997 it would have a better chance but as i said in another post, there are few i n the market for high powered cars that would buy accident damaged.

How badly bent AndyK..............plus how long did he hold onto it before trying to sell? Maybe priced a bit high.....?! Plus there are hugh numbers of porkers for sale....people can pick and choose!

This is the 2nd time he has had it for sale....I know the 1st owner as he used to live by me. He had the car from **** Lovett I believe through trade. The car was mostly front, side panel damage and some suspension. Porsche had sold the car and was road testing it when it was smashed. He sold the car to my car dealer friend about a year and a half ago and bought a Ferrari 360. My friend sold it straight away as it was about 9k cheaper than an non Cat car....He had it back about 3/4 months or so ago and its up for more this time than the first time but prices have risen since then.....I do think it is over priced but what do I now.

If it does not sell its overpriced perhaps.
I get the statement "an item is worth exactly what a person is willing to pay for it" a lot and my reply( if i am the seller) is,"no...more importantly, an item is worth exactly what a seller is willing to accept for it"
Haggle as much as you like but if its taking the pi$$ or is just not enough i would rather keep the item than"give it away".
Maybe a bad attitude but there you go.

That ac wil go for around £4500-£5k repair costs in the region of £3K max thats allowing for some incidentals that we cant see, i reckon £2_2500K if i was doing it , only 46k miles , so maybe a market value of around £10/11K sort of car you can do , own for 2 years and sell on getting your money back , possibly making a grand or two if its done really well , Our very own David Askew might well have a crack at it , its right down his street , but he's very ameniable if a forum member wanted it he would refrain from bidding , and also be a great help with any parts needed , he's a great guy so worth doing some phone calls first

regards loz

Looks like resident expert Loz was on the money with this one. The repaired car is now on ebay at £11,995 or offers. The repair looks OK from the pics, but the bonnet shut line on the passenger side looks odd to me, so possibly a repaired bonnet rather than replaced. Paintwork is very shiny so could be a complete respray. It also looks to me like the engine is covered in red overspray or polishing dust.

So, in 3 months from this:

It is mentioned as Cat D, but you need to look quite hard to see it. They've covered themselves as it's under a heading of 'read very carefully' so there can't really be any comeback. Having said that I was under the impression this car was a cat C?

i asked him
Hi Mate,I am inrterested but did you respray that car in a maserati red or just some other red as the colour looks a little wrong?
This car was a damaged salvage a short while ago but you have not mentioned this in the listing. LOt number 14657680 but was it Cat D or C?
Answer was "would you like to buy the car or just waste my time"
I wont buy it and doubt its been done well.

.

G I had to laugh.........seriously....those are his exact words?

I would bump this thread up...........or maybe Conaero could do a sticky thread entitled...

BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Pity there was no other way to warn people off it!

I was going to say the red colour might be right, simply because the pics were taken by an iphone, they can never reproduce the colour, especially on reds to well, I sprayed my mini red (ford radiant lol) and im quite a keen photographer and it’s amazing how different the colour can look in different lighting conditions.

However...

Just noticed on the engine bay pic the PPG sticker is still there, so i would definitely say its the original bonnet, hence why it don’t fit right, but have a look at the red on the underside of the bonnet versus the wings, even I would say that’s different.

I have a lot of experience re spraying cars, and all it takes is a dry paint brush and a vacuum cleaner to remove overspray on engines, if they could not be arsed with that what else could they not be bothered with, such a shame, however the dead give away is the different colour air filter boxes...

There seems to be a remarkable amount of Bodged,Poorly fixed up or service book /history missing maserati appearing on ebay lately.
From what i have seen they are all worth steering well clear of.
I agree with Phil, its a shoddy paint job and if i commisioned it i would have got them to clean it up properly.
Odd cause they want top price for a cat D but didnt really invest real time and money into the preperation....another dodgy trader trying to make a fast buck!!!
