Tragic story. But 18 months ago (not that it makes a big difference).

To some extent this is a story about bad benefits systems (particularly universal credit).

But it is also a story of a toxic version of masculinity that can end in 'you would be getter off without me'. A friend of a friend did the same about 5 years ago, due to gambling debts, but in this case he had a good job, 2 kids in private school etc, It wasn't about social deprivation, but about a sense of failure to 'provide' in a manly way.

I’ve felt this way but I knew my kids would prefer me alive so I stuck it out. Things looked up and now the outlook is bright. Not so easy for everyone though, help is out there but accepting it can be hard due to male pride etc.

Life is a bugger and it’s a bugger for a lot more people than you think isn’t it?

Sad story but all too common unfortunately - the latest suicide figures are set to be very high I ve heard but if you commit suicide within 28 days of a positive test result will it be counted as death by Covid ?

Some people genuinely need help, others abuse the system hence the struggle to get it quickly.

Some people should feel ashamed today but I fear not.

Very tragic.

It will.

Well it won't, actually. It will be counted as a death within 28 days of a positive test. And will be reported by the media.
