I've wanted a QP since they were released. I've been considering buying one for a very long time. I researched buying one for a long time. I actively started looking before Christmas; I looked at and test-drove many. By the time I eventually put one in my garage I had had a lot of time to come to terms with the idea of owning a Trident.
What has really surprised me is the reaction of others.
Friends and family whom I had considered to have zero interest in cars have been queuing up for a ride. Even my other half who's uninterested attitude to cars can be summed up by her phrase "I don't care what you buy so long as it's automatic" has been telling all her mates that we have a Maserati. This turned out to be an own goal when she told some Polish friends just before we asked them (they are in the building trade) to source some painters for us. The price that came back reflected the conversation which I imagined took place concerning the car in our garage.
I painted the flat myself instead
My father-in-law, who has always been dismissive of my other Italian cars over the years, is positively gushing about the Quattroporte. He has been bringing neighbours from near and far to show it off to them. I'm bemused by it all. Sure it's a lovely car but I wasn't expecting this level of worship.
Now if only I can find a way to charge them all I might pay for some of this petrol
