...if you're into that sort of thing. Seriously, looks good! Morning, all. Rain, glorious rain...in buckets. So gonna try and take things as easy as possible. Wagyu flank steak and asparagus on tap for dinner here. Girls are gone for the week, so just the two of us (and the dogs, and the cats, and the alpaca, and the chickens, and the ducks...).

None of this sounds weird (or even unusual, TBH) Trying to keep the calories low(ish) so the cream and cheese will be off menu this time around.

Have you a recipe to share?

Tbh it’s somewhat organic. Brown off onions, carrots and celery in a pan. Then cook off some mushrooms. Add the beef (5 % fat mince) and brown then add kidney beans in chilli sauce. Add a knor beef stick pot, time, basil and oregano to taste and a good glug of red wine. Also a little Worcester sauce. Then add a tin of chopped tomatoes. Simmer for a couple of minutes. Add a tin of drained chick peas and chilli flakes to taste. Leave to simmer/sit for a couple of hours. Add some grated dark chocolate shortly before serving.

OK. Not sure I 'approve' of celery, carrots and beans in chilli sauce ;)

Our was good.

Should have added the celery, carrots and onion are very finely diced.

Tbf though, choosing a chilli recipe is an immensely personal decision ;-)

It's a mirepoix. I get it. And when I use it I love it, but I have 'issues' with both celery and carrots :) However the effect it can have is not to be questioned. Have to say I've never heard of one in a chilli, though!

Personal indeed, but thanks for sharing. No offence intended!

Good morning all.

Parents visiting us this morning as it is Alex’s birthday tomorrow so bring his gifts up. Then meeting Alex’s girlfriend for the first time. Then 7 of Alex’s friends coming around to take over the lounge to watch Newport County County play Manchester United in the FA Cup. I shall be going for a walk at that time.

Long walk yesterday and today my knees are aching so a nice relaxing day of coffee - pub lunch - snooze and then pub again before family meal later. It’s what Sundays are made for.

Having said that, this evening or tomorrow we need to finalise our tax returns ahead of the end of month deadline.

Meant to share this nugget on Friday:

I managed (foolishly) to run the battery down on the van, to the point it would not crank! Being a DSG, a bump start is out of the question, fcuk, what to do, I consider flagging down a passing van to get a jump but I was stood there staring at nicely charged Makita 18v Li-ion battery and the thought occurred that there was a considerable amount of energy right there…

A couple of pennies later and the jump leads connected for about 90 seconds, I could feel the little battery getting warm, disconnected and the van started straight up!

Sometimes you need to hack life!

Well played. I'm a little surprised you don't have a portable Li-ion power pack. Bloody good for all sorts.

Morning, all...rain has stopped. Boy alpaca pen is listing to port...had to have had a good 6 inches of rain in the last week. Ground too muddy/wet to engage the tractor, so looks like I will be moving sandbags by hand later. Have brussels sprouts in oven to dry before crisping up later. Busy week ahead, so just trying to ease in to today, thus far...
