You still can
Cameron, Andrew, Maxwell et al and that is just this week
It really is garbage isn't it , made by the team who made line of duty , obviously with the same writers who've never set foot on a submarine and didn't want to pay a consultant who hadI think that I've had about as much as I can take of Vigil. Any time I feel the urge to suspend belief
and grab me a handful of submarine action. I'll reach for Crimson Tide or Red October.
This weeks episode was the tipping point. When the slab of wood playing Vigil's captain turned
to a female member of crew and told her to make a 'ship wide announcement' I nearly pee'd myself,
as I was sure that the next thing I'd hear was the 'bing bong' of a Butlins style public address, wishing
one of the crew a happy birthday. If Spitting Image was still around and as as good as it used to be,
they'd have a field day with Vigil. Where are the satirists, when you need them most.
From the ridiculous to the even more ridiculous. I've just seen it reported in the past hour that Mike Pence is considering running for the GOP nomination in 2024. I don't think its a joke. Its not April 1st. I had to double check.
If you haven't heard of Taylor Tomlinson, have a lookI know humour is
very subjective, but FWIW I think she's hilarious. I couldn't find a complete set unfortunately. Only lots of short clips.
Its still comedy gold though.
Yep, a complete waste of our money commissioning it. I was pulling my punches before, so as not to offend those I respect here. I would wager that they didn't pay a consultant because they knew that they'd simply be ignoring everything he said.Just subscribed to Netflix again now the nights are drawing in
The Game is a very good film and unbelievably 24 years old

Thanks for the reminder about The Game. I'm struggling for things to watch when I can't sleep. That's tonight taken care of
Well, I can only guess that the ex-RN engineer was only consulted for very niche areas of operations. They did actually. In the paper today. Member of CND and anit-nuclear weapon protester. As well as an ex-RN engineer on the subs. I can dig out the details if anyone is interested.
Clearly there is some disagreement about how balanced his views are....

The set designer admitted in an interview that he directly copied the control room from Red October.
Not that you couldn't work that out for yourself. The similarities were glaring.
What the writers needed from a member of CND, eludes me.
In most scenes, I saw inconsistencies either in the set, the plot, the characters and/or how the characters interacted with each other. After that, there wasn't a lot left to like and no real eye candy either.
Obviously consultants don't have editorial control, so I wouldn't blame them.
You don't have to have served in the Silent Service to see the character inconsistencies. Service in any military branch would suffice.
Ultimately I suppose its the director's and producer's responsibility for the final cut.
With some tweaks here and there. It could've been a farce about the US and UK, screwing the French
out of a contract to supply SSN technology to the Aussies.

After I posted that excerpt, I realised that it was one of the weaker bits of her gig.Pretty good!
Not badI also like the opposite comedy energy of Ed Aczel:
