Marcella. Absolute ******** but watchable.
Started on a Danish Walter Presents thing called ‘Deliver Us’ about a rural town being menaced by the local bully/psycho.

It actually reminds me of growing up in The Fens. My village had its top dog, the town I went to school with had a couple on top of that. It’s interesting to watch a study of the nuance of controlling menace; the bully rarely needs to lose his temper, menacing while being a ‘reasonable guy’ and playing on your sense of embarrassment/shame to get his way without asking. Anyway, recommended...

"It's a Sin"

I thought it might be a outdated, as who doesn't know about Aids etc, also aren't the issues facing the Gay community completely different nowadays?

However, it was pretty eye-opening and also sad.

It also makes it clear that these experiences weren't long ago so many gay people will still be going through ramifications of their prior experience of, for example:
  • families completely rejecting them
  • society completely rejecting them

Times change but people who were 18 in 1980 are only 48-49 now.

Not sure about the gratuitous sex scenes, but when the BBC are even doing it on "Normal People" it seem the current norm post-Game of Thrones.

Other things... that a few people may have missed

The Americans - absolutely sublime, not outdated, up there with my favourite TV shows of all time.

The Looming Tower - great watch

Bosch - easy watching, but well acted, cop drama

Succession - Very well written and brilliant watch

Manhunt: Unabomber - brilliant detective show

Gomorrah - Italian drug gangs

Sneaky Pete - Its pretty average, but decent compelling watch

Criminal UK - pretty interesting, good acting

Parts of it were filmed at Chester University (at our Warrington Campus) they all thought they were the apex Thespians.........Even the camera crew!!

I’m watching Bosch at the moment. Like you say well acted and decent story lines. Seen manhunt and the looming tower and thoroughly enjoyed those. Another one I watched last winter while layed up in a cast was Homeland on Netflix. Some good characters and story lines.
