Stradale high miles used buy on Pistonheads

I find it laughable that 60,000 miles is deemed high mileage. Full stop .... let alone on a car that is approaching 10 years old and on an engine which is hardly stressed (100bhp a litre).

As to agreeing or disagreeing, there wasn't much that was contentious ..... other than a comparison with a Toyota which is plain daft.

It is high mileage in comparison to all of the other ones on the market. This means relatively, it doesn’t represent good value which is why it isn’t sold.

90% of Pistonheads is basically a bunch of momos telling each other they’d have bought the latest Ferrari/McLaren if it was a manual & looked better from the rear quarter. That whilst constantly feeling the need to say “sup beers” (hate that cringe word)..

And as it has more miles than my (starship enterprise) GS, it must be high miles, as that's whats people say mine is.

I quite like PH. I quite like SM. They are both different an offer different things.

Where does Stuarts race car fit on that list? Or does it not count as a Strad?

Or is there a different list for 1 seaters???

That’s interesting. Yes get it will not give the same sense of occasion but I think these two would be bought for different reasons. Weekend toy for the Stradale and everyday car the 911. I would probably say you would get a good warranty on that Porsche as well. A C4 would be a great everyday companion.

Or you could buy a 3 year old (maybe even facelift car) Gran Turismo with less miles for the same money .... which would also be (is for some on here) a great every day companion.

Let me know, I’ve not seen a facelift GT for less than one I sold at £57k.

Is it though...I could never use one everyday with MPG and maintenance costs. I just feel the 911 would be less of a risk on the wallet. By look not had either so wouldn’t know.

Prices have gone up since then on most similar cars so I am sure the GT has too. There is a facelift mid blue up at £60k that has been listed on AT for ages mind.

The Stradale is a strange on. As a two seater it is the weekend blast version of the range and these are the sort of cars that have low miles so it makes sense that high miles will hit the Stradale more so than the rest of the range. Should still be worth more than a GT though.

There’s more testosterone per capita on PH than in an East German female shot putter.

There was a guy complaining on PH the other day - rightly so in my opinion - that his Merc approved C63 was delivered on mismatching tyres with the fronts having Cups on it and the collective wisdom of Corsa owners ripped him to shreds.

It’s a myth that 911’s don’t cost much to run, MPG is higher which is about it. I had a 991 which cost more to run in 2 years than my GT in 4 years excluding fuel.
They do hold their value better however, as the perception of them is low cost sports car.

I was surprised how much a normal 7 year old 911 was.

I might post a pic of a particularly nasty corsa or j@p motor and ask what moron would do this to a car. Just for entertainment value.

My experience of owning them - I've had 8 x 911s - is the same. To look after one well is much more costly than the reputation suggests. It's very clever marketing from them over many years to convince the world that German brands are more reliable etc than their Italian (and other) counterparts. 3 to 5k bills with a 911 where normal and happened every year. To compare that to my FF, that has a service pack etc and so far my cost is under £500 in 2.5 years of ownership. That includes 3 main dealer services - including the big one - 2 X MOTs etc. I had one part cost which wasn't covered by warranty and the main dealer split the cost with me and so it was about £350 to repair.

all my 911s (only 6 of them!) were very cheap to run but they were all air cooled!
A friend has just bought a lovely FF. Doing his homework, it seem they need new ceramics around 25k miles so I guess that needs to be brought in to the average as that is not a small expense? I plan to have one at some point as it is one of the few cars that really exceeded my expectations vs many (including some Ferraris) that were very disappointing but would hope to avoid replacement during my tenure.
