Stereo loud squeaky sound

My car had been behaving perfectly until I started it yesterday after having been shopping and the sound is unbearable so it’s now permanently off.
Does anyone know what I have done?
The stereo still plays but the volume is much lower than the humming squeaky sound.

Have you checked for mice?

But seriously could be a failing component in the NIT. Does it happen with all inputs? Aux in, CD, Changer etc? Does it stop when the stereo of off?

It happens on all inputs and stops when the stereo is off thank god!!

That suggest an issue with the amplifier / output stage. Check the connections, but it might be goosed.

Amazingly enough I got in tonight and everything was back to normal. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Sounds like your output / amp is beginning to go, per Zep's comment.

Probably will get worse, but make the most of it for now!
