Very sad news indeed. I know how much it meant to you Matt and its amazing to see all the great comments from all the members. Hopefully we will see the rise of Spirts Italia 2.0 next year. You have the support of all of us
Spirts Italia is something different, Stevo. But... you might just be on to something (if Matt's willing to start selling his body).

I'm late to read this. Really awful news. Don't give up, the respect and admiration for you earned is clear.

I know it's not so cut and dry, but take a breath and rebuild. I will be happy to contribute in any way i can.

I've been in the motor trade myself for 30 years and while I've opened and closed two garages, it was for personal reasons. Certainly not forced to by the greed of the landlord.

Don't give up that's all I can say, good mechanics are hard to find and people are loyal when they find a good one. I've not yet been a paying customer, but I was looking forward to being one when I needed it.

First time to check back on the forum, a shock is an understatement ! What a loss for us the Maserati owners! I was planning for a service before taking it to Le Mans !!

Matt, it is no doubt one of those down moments in life for you, but looking at the bright side, you have such good reputation amongst the Maserati community, I hope that you are keeping the machinery and ready to start SI again somewhere. I am sure I speak for most of your customers, we will follow you anywhere!

I can’t believe a landlord can destroy a business this way, such a disgrace, fuelled by greed. Maybe we could have a mini crowd funding here on a forum and find you a suitable site to purchase for the reborn of SI. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to be the landlord of SI for an investment, and even the benefit of a discount.

Anyway, most difficult part of running a business is starting up at the beginning, you have already got the brand recognition (people see cars being maintained by SI are better than Main Dealer), a loyal customer base, please don’t put the tools and machinery away for too long.

Please do let us know if we could help in anyway.

Post #83 suggests the same solution ;) So a queue of willing investors is forming.

I think it is great to see the outpouring of support for Matt and the rest of the SI team.
Having said that I think a conversion with them is requited about future plans, and any help they may want or even need.
I do not underestimate the challenge facing them and I suspect the set up cost for this type of venture and a new site will be >£100k
We are a generous bunch on here and I know many will want to assist if wanted.

I wouldn't follow him into some of the dodgy French places I bet he and others have been in!

Very sad to see this, Matt. Hopefully you can find a new location and pick things up from there, and this all becomes a mere speed bump on the ongoing journey of the business

Hear me out, but this might not be the maddest idea I had...

Drive in, go on holiday/business trip, come back and drive home in your freshly serviced Maserati. Handy for me too, till the end of the year. Rent might be a bit steep...

Plenty of space for @Ebenezer 's QP to rest in the rain.

I've already invested about £15k in SportsItalia..... :p
Only 15k? Ha! I'm on the board!
All joking aside, really sorry to see this happen to Matt, Ash and the rest of the team. I do hope that they find a way to rebuild. They have been very good to all of us, and our cars too.
